NEWS: Assassin's Creed Shadows is delayed again, now to March 20, Ubisoft says, as the company pursues "various transformational strategic and capitalistic options to extract the best value for stakeholders" (looks for a potential sale).

    Delayed again till 20 March

I suspect this will enter development hell if Ubisoft's finances continue to spiral round the drain.

I really like the sound of this like a replacement Tenchu, so was planning on making it my first AC game, but sounds like it might not happen.

Even if it releases and does well, it's hard to see how Ubisoft avoid falling into a whole as AC is built on releasing regular new entries so Ubisoft is heavily dependent on having a string of tentpoles. Like numerous other companies they've also set themselves up for a fall by patting themselves on the back too much for successes in the last few years. Valhalla was massively the most successful entry so anything less and the company will now take a battering but in the industry there's been a real refusal to recognise the market conditions of that success.

Valhalla was a lengthy entry launched during the peak of everyone being locked in their homes and looking to games as a distraction. Shadows is near certainly going to sell slower because of the abnormal conditions Valhalla launched in. It's really hard to see a way out for Ubisoft thanks to their chronic mismanagement.

No matter how well Shadows does or how good it is, shareholder expectations of 90trillion dollar return on it has already sunk it & Ubisoft 🤷‍♂️
