And the comments on that article are even higher on the "call me stupid" scale.

YouTube "influencers" definitely need to shoulder at least some of the blame, especially around the VRAM stuff that people now seem to believe - if you are to believe what the commentators are saying, the RTX 5060 won't be worth buying unless it has 24GB of RAM.

If I did gifs (which I don't) - it'd be the Picard facepalm.
Whhaaaaaaaaaatssssusssssup guys and gals, don’t bother with any graphics cards from now on unless your running an rtx 7090 with AT LEAST 100gigs of vram!!!

Did I do it right? Am i now an influencer?

How many people who actually bought RTX 4060s do you see complaining about how badly let down they are by their purchase? They're practically non-existant.

Even when I'm maxing out the RTX 4090 in games at 4K, rarely does it reserve even half the VRAM it has. The exception is in stuff like Blender or SDXL, I'm pretty sure the engineers at NVIDIA know exactly what they're doing when they are designing and configuring their hardware.

Is it expensive? No doubt. Is the 40XX series bad? Absolutely not. And neither will 50XX series be.

You can certainly point the finger and say NVIDIA is profiting from what they make, because yes they are - that's kinda the idea of capitalism.

I got a 4060 on a deal on amazon a while back, i play at 1080p and use a 144hz monitor tbh i like the card and cannot really say i notice the 8gb issue their might be the odd game where it says a warning not enough but the settings it at still looks great so i cannot be sad about missing something i cannot see lol

I am not really that fussed about going higher res anyway

Thing is people are saying i should have got a previous gen for the higher vram....and i keep thinking why ? for the price i got the 4060 a comparable previous card would likely perform lower for a slightly better looking game so i dunno but i do need to upgrade cpu and motherboard as its quite old but once that is done i will have a rig that will last a while.

DLSS is a weird thing though as I am still messing with it but some games they really just do not look right

DLSS is just clever interpolation at the end of the day - it can't be perfect in every situation. It'll also depend on what setting you have it at. If you go Quality, it's interpolating from more pixels than if you select Performance, so you're likely to see more issues the more towards the performance end you go as there are less pixels and more gaps to fill.

Quick question. Just got a new card for my PC that come with a new game code which can be redeemed via Steam. Only prerequisite is I need to install Geoforce Experience.
If I claim the game and then remove Geoforce Experience will the game still be playable, or will it remove it?

Once it's redeemed on your account it's there until you remove it from the library - I can't think of a way they'd be able to tie it directly to GeForce experience unless it was a different version of the game.

Is it actually a Steam code, or is it a code that you have to enter via GeForce Experience that then redeems into Steam? As if it's just a Steam code I doubt you even need to install that, you should just be able to enter it here: https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey

Steam codes are 3 blocks of 5 characters.

I don't have the answer to your question but..

GFE isn't bad, certainly not Epic launcher bad and you can make it never run in the background unless you load it up, it's been easy way for me to update drivers and look at the recommended settings for your system/games (which you can easily ignore or 1 button request to change it those without loading the game up)

Thanks both, Marty it isnt a steam code I tried that first, instructions are as follows (I assume so people dont sell the codes)

                  1. Install your qualified graphics card.
                  2. Update or install the latest version of GeForce Experience (Version 3.18 or higher) or NVIDIA app beta.
3 . Open and log in to GeForce Experience or NVIDIA app beta
                  4. Go to the Account drop-down menu and select “REDEEM”.
                  5. Enter your bundle code from your qualifying bundle purchase.
                  6. Follow the remaining instructions on screen to sign in through your Steam account. 7. Select “REDEEM” to redeem Black Myth: Wukong to your Steam account 8. LAUNCH Steam to begin installation.

I removed Geoforce and did a restart - Game is still on my Steam account

                  Cheers Gents

A couple of Steam games that have recently caught my eye...

Released yesterday. Not a Balatro clone, although your mind might venture down that path. It has similarities. It looks pixely, it's a roguelike deck building game, but its also Black Jack. Not played it myself, but I plan on picking it up.

Over here we have Pixel Descent which came out in March, but I've only just noticed it. Firstly, it looks like Gauntlet! Nice. However, this has a rogue-lite twist. Again, not played it myself yet, but it looks like Vampire Survivors meets Gauntlet and I am down for that.

I will probably pick both of these up over the weekend.

                            I think you’ve mistaken 37 users for 37m here

If anyone is trying Black Myth Wukong on Steam Deck this is some crazy voodoo magic.

It's a DLSS mod that tricks it into running FSR3.1 and initial testing at low settings has it running at nearly 60fps.

I'm sure it's not a perfect experience but it's pretty crazy.
