I'm usually not interested in beating scores, but one game that hit me hard with score combos was Starfox 64

ahh yes I almost forgot that one, getting all medals on expert was a real challenge, sector Z took me a long time.
the "reward" was not what I hoped for (a new start screen), I was hoping that Fox's father would become playable....

Please try and avoid quoting the post above. Thanks.

I still try and better my times on 1080 64.
Spent a fair bit of time recently trying the same on 1080 GC, but don't think it will have quite the same long term draw.
Ikaruga and Border Down presented good scope for scores.
Back on the C64, Dropzone was repeatedly caned to see how far past 1,000,000 points I could get.
3D NES Excitebike mini-game in Excitebike64. I often try different routes to see if I can get a better laptime.

Ikaruga has to be the ultimate game for "just one more try", never did manage to chain chapter 3 very well....

I think it's good in this day and age that you can always find replays of top scores/times on the web, helps us "lesser" players greatly, will have to watch a few Ikaruga ones later.

there are a few games that i've been hooked on for months trying to get better scores/times, but eventually i do get bored, or just peak.
games i've spent a lot of time on are:
              Dodonpachi
              Gran tourismo 3
              Initial D
              Street fighter III: 3rd strike
              moto GP 2
              Monkey Ball

Mars Matrix (DC) - IMO, the perfect score attack game
                Joust (PSX)
                Tony Hawk 3 (PS2)
                Pac-man (MAME)
                R-Type 3 (SNES)
                Kirby Pinball (GB)
                Crazy Taxi (DC)
                Vib-Ribbon(PSX)
                Gitaroo Man(PS2)
                Mad Maestro(PS2)
                Frequency(PS2)
Pinball Fantasy: The theme-park table (Amiga)

And many more I can't think of right now...

I've always enjoyed scores, but the latest to grab me on that front is Project Gotham 2. The fact that there is not only an online scoreboard, but I can restrict the list to just see how my US mates have done is a stroke of genius. I don't get to play online with them very often, due to the timezone differences, but this way I can run a new try any time of the day and yet still compete.

Psyvariar, Shikigami no Shiro 2 and Initial D have been good score/time attack games for me recently - now it's ALL about Outrun! 8) (that game should be classified as a class A drug!)

DoDonPachi, Ace Combat 04 and Rez are about the only games I bother trying to pwn score attack on.

Other than that, I'm partial to time attacks on Ridge 5 and Burnout 2.

Aye, definately Super Mario Kart time attacks. Me and my flatmate used to cain the same track over and over for hours just trying to beat each other.

                          ProPinball - Timeshock
                          Devil Crash
Tony Hawks (any one) trick scores

Ditto that post. It's a game i love and hate in equal measures.

Cosmic smash(DC) just does my head in, still always come back for more.
