    Sega park!

I went into Sega Park today for the first time in a long, long while. Sega Park Southampton, to be exact. And guess what I found...
No townies, only lots of people on arcade machines, playing, watching others play, and to be honest, it was great. It captured the essence of what arcades should be... we had a good laugh at the guy doing expert on some dancing game, I had a go on an ATV thing (with force-feedback), which was also great fun, and spent a lot of money trying to complete Time Crisis 3. It was, to be honest, very very cool.

Is it successful. I guess it must be, but i didn't think these parks can stay open forever. Surely they're losing money?

I've never actually been to a 'proper' arcade before

Living next to the sea and in a touristy area, all I have down here are pokey towny-infested 'give us ten pee!' smelly ****holes.

I got a Sega land or whatever its called near me. Its in a massive oriental shopping centre so it makes money. Got derby owners club and initial d amongst a few others. Sadly no soul calibur 2 ft:

It used to be terrible to go in there, loads of arseholes just hanging around but it seems to be much better than it used to be.

Hey cool, someone else who goes to the Sega Park Southampton. I agree with you that it is a good place as far as Arcades go, Always have a look in there since its right opposite Game.

The thing thats been winding me up though is that Initial D game, I have tried to get a go on it for about 3 or 4 seperate trips into Southampton, Every Time there is someone on it who seems to have plenty of Pounds to throw in it, the only time I saw it available I looked in my wallet and had no cash, Popular game that one.

The King of Arcades that I know of is Southsea, not been there in ages but they always had loads of machines, true Arcade atmosphere.

hmm, do they know nothing of arcade 'ettiquette'? if someone is waiting and you get a 'Game Over' it's your time to leave matey... i thought Initial D saves your stats and stuff so there's really no excuse for **** manners.

              Adrock,

If you're talking about Oriental City as it's now know I was in there yesterday playing Initial D. Go there from time to time as they tend to get pretty good stuff early on.
