What lordcookie says is very true, the reason I state that I'm collecting saturn, DC and NGPC is that I'm building up a library of games that I love, not games that I own just for the sake of it, been there done that, not much fun

Unfortunately it means buying up a lot of titles that I've owned before (and stupidly sold) and some of them are getting quite hard to find, but the act of collecting is pretty damn fun, and to think I used to take the piss out of collectors just a few months ago

This isn't a question that you should need to ask other people, it comes down to your own personal tastes/preferences

Dont ask what to collect, you will end up with an empty vacuous feeling inside if you do that.

Dont go collecting willy nilly either.

I colect mainly famicom items, not so much any more, I have alot, but it was my first system, and there is sentimental value in ym collection. Even when I buy something recently.

I went through a faze of collecting every console released after the crash of '84, I barely ecver load up my master systems anymore, so dont ask what to collect, find something close to your heart.

Then when you look back on it, it will reinvigorate all your memories, and give you that fuzzy feeling inside.

If we tell you what to collect, youll end up feeling empty and unfulfilled.

How about taking a single game, say Metal Gear or Resident Evil and collecting all the different versions, US, JAP, EURO, AUSSIE, Special editions etc.

I'd like to have all the 'versions' of ICO even though the PAL version is considered the best, just for the sake of having them.

Nearest I get to such a feat is my two PAL copies of REZ, one DC and one PS2. (DC is the best mind you)

personally I jus have the games I like for all the formats (and games I buy tend to be ones I want to try) this leads to quite a large collection when crossing all the formats, then I have a "near" complete PAL DC set as by the time I'd finished pickin up all the stuff I wanted to play on it (at dirt cheap prices come 2001) there were only like 30 or so titles left to complete the set, so I thought what the hell. I would love Mr Driller for the Wonderswan but that one seems near impossible to find...

I like to collect games, but not crap ones, or to get the complete collection of games that were ever released on a console. I collect the games that interest me. Sometimes I'll take a chance on something that someone has highly recommended me, and 95% of the time it ends up staying in my collection. So far I'm collecting Saturn, DC , and N64 games. As soon as Conker's Bad Fur Day arrives (hopefully tomorrow) my N64 collection will pretty much be complete. My Saturn collection, at least domistically, is nearing completing. I've decided to get a few more than originally planned, because people keep telling me how good they are. And my DC collection only has about 5 more games that I want to add to it.

If you feel like collecting something, and don't know what, I'd say that you should take up another hobby instead. Obviously you're yearning for something else in your life, so start learning how to play an instrument, or take up some sport, or anything really. The spice of life is variety, so whilst you don't have to sell off your collection to take up another hobby - give each an equal amount of time, and you'll find yourself enjoying them all to a higher degree than if you stuck with just the one thing.

I toyed with the idea of collecting handhelds once, but I don't have the patience collecting requires. Neither do I see the point in owning something just for the sake of having it.

In some respects, collecting can be self indulgent, but I can see the appeal.

ice pack- where did you get conkers bad fur day from? and how much? if you don't mind me asking.

i just buy Dreamcast games, i will mainly only buy the ones i want, but if i see a cheap games which look's like it could be ok then i'll take a chance and get it.

i've also just started getting N64 games but my heart just isn't in it so i'm just playing the gamers then selling them.
