    Working as a professional journalist...

Although previously I?ve only been interested in freelance gaming journalism, due to various reasons I?d now like to do it full-time with a national magazine. I?m just wondering about a few things at the moment though, such as the pay (as bad as some people say?) or the chances of me ever getting there (as ntsc-uk is my only experience in such a field)?

Is there anything in particular I need to know before sending out my CV and um?know of any jobs going? ;P

    Thanks

Point potential employers to any of your more recent (by this I mean the last year or two) reviews on this site, Id say it speaks for itself. With minimal guidance, you manage to write reviews that put many professional reviews I read to shame. Dedicated, loyal and a nice bloke to boot, they would be mad not to take you on.

Additionally, you have the GamesTM article to show them should any further reference be required.

For those kind words I may not send you Dino Crisis 3 after all...

Are you looking at games journalism or other subjects? If it's not just games, then as well as showing your writing for this site, I'd knock up a few extra pieces that are more targetted to the mags/papers you're applying to - demonstrate your versatility etc.

From what I can gather it's a ferociously crowded field, but you genuinely will have just as much chance as anyone else.

With regards to pay, it seems to be simply down to who you work for - the Wigan Chronicle will pay less than Time magazine....

        Good luck!
