    Ogre Battle 64

Been stuck on mission 15 for 3 years, I repeat, (three) years.

After finishing Advance Wars 2 (hard mode) on saturday morning I felt as though I could beat old Gaz Kaspirov at chess, so I stuck on something harder - Mission 15 of OB64.

Bagged it in my first do I only had one strong unit due to a frenzied leveling up addiction (I do this on Pokemon too, only ever level up one strong character with balance through-out my force) so basically it was just a matter of sending out my weaker units and luring the enemy back to HQ in order for my beast master and his two evil 3-headed dogs (3 times the levels of the average enemies) to do the dirty work.

After getting through that bastard I fell back in love with the game instantly, and then played it for 36 hours solid without rest - I don't think I'm anywhere near the end yet, I've still to cover ANY of the different terrains such as snow+fire etc... This game is HUGE. (2nd biggest N64 cart behind Resi2) I'm no where near looking after my own dragons yet - basically just training lackies onto proper foot soldiers in order to build up my legions.

I've had so many optional story twists that I reckon I'd have to finish it at least 50 times over to see all the different endings. There's tons of swearing throughout the story too, such as '****', 'bastard' and 'son of a bitch'.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED GAME!!

I remember Ogre Battle - it was one of the six games I ever bought for my import N64. Exemplary stuff, though I can't say I ever noticed the swearing...

Ogre Battle 64 is one of the best games I've ever played. It took me 70 hours to beat the thing and, because of my careless and blood-thirsty tactics, I got a crap ending. Fantastic.

Anyone know who owns the rights to the Ogre Battle series? Any chance of a new Tactics Ogre or Ogre Battle? I'm replaying TO: Knight of Lodis at the moment and loving it (very different this time through thanks to some different choices made).

Thus far, Atlus have published every Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle game avaliable in the states and Artdink (I think) publish the series in Japan.

Not sure if there is any signs of a new Tactics Ogre or Ogre Battle. Shame really, as both are outstanding. Although, there is Final Fantasy Tactics (created by the same developer, Quest) and Disgaea (Nippon Ichi). Also, Nippon have another game out in Japan, in the same vein as Disgaea/Tactics Ogre called Phantom Brave which looks interesting.

I don't know about all of them like, but if you want a proper deep story with great characters and a great system - look no further than OB64.

I can't wait until I get in tonight!

I always check through my army whilst I spark one up before I play - just for the satisfaction factor.

I really can't believe a 'skirmish management sim' can be so compelling.

I also can't believe I'll be playing through it all again as soon as I finish it. Due to the subtle nature of the 'choices' from the battlefield to the board room, it really will be difficult playing through it differently a 2nd time - I'll probably get the same ending again due to my style of tactics knowing my luck - even if I act like a twat on purpose when talking to folk.
