    Viewtiful Joe for PS2?!

Just read that recently on C4's Gamecentral pages, don't know if that's true or not...

It?s a rumor that has been flying around for, well, since the game was released I suppose. If not before?

With Killer 7 coming to both Gamecube and Playstation 2 I suppose Capcom are quite able to port it over some time, whether they will or not is another question. Personally, it doesn?t really matter either way. The Gamecube has had its exclusiveness for a while, and Viewtiful Joe will be enjoyed and played by a great deal more if the port were to be made, which is ultimately a good thing. Also, possibly more sales would mean a higher chance of a sequel

From what i can gather, at this moment in time there is nothing official saying it is. If im mistaken please someone correct me
Edit: Out of pure interest, what would the general reaction be if it were to be ported to playstation 2? Maybe, say, with a few additional extras and a few things ironed out, or maybe just a complete and utter straight port, through and through?

How would you peeps act? Would you really mind at all?

    Regards

The question of exclusivity doesn't apply that much any more as most people already own 2+ consoles.
I've had the JPN Cube version since it came out and I love it.
Don't really care that the PS2 is getting a version, would doubt if it will look or play as nice as the original though.
Maybe it will get the recognition it deserves from the general public now it's on that platform.

I wouldnt be surprised. Capcom said only PN03 and RE games are exclsuive. The rest will probably be timed exclsuive for GC.

I will buy a PS2 port and sell my GC version simply because those Japanese GC boxes are retarded. I also hope that Capcom put a stage select.

            Japanese GC boxes are great!

I keep hearing this rumour but people keep saying "of course it could happen only pn03 and re4 are exclusive". Yet when pn03 was released people were saying that would be ported. People are still for some reason saying Re4 will be ported. So until Viewtiful Joe is actually announced for ps2 by capcom I wouldn't believe it too much. And even then it will be getting released like 18 months after the jpn gc version.

I would like to see both PN03 and VJ ported simply because i'd like to support these releases and hopefully give them more exposure.

              And because cardboard sucks ;p

PN03 and VJ are fantastic titles, the more exposure they get the better!

ANyways the PS2 needs a bit of class...

                And Jap GC box =

i'd love joe to get a ps2 port - it'd be great for capcom to establish at least one new franchise from their 'experimental' approach to cube development; if for nothing other than to encourage the same from more developers.

however, joe is a seriously quirky title, and has the ultra-combo of 2d gameplay (which is *so* unpopular outside of gaming forums) and 'teh cel shading' - rendering it unappealing to the mainstream.

i'm sure capcom's doing the math, but i have a suspicion that their research will tell them it won't sell any better on the ps2 than it did on the cube; in which case you'll never see it anywhere else.

and you'll never see pn03 on the ps2 - the sales were so low as to make it a right-off. which is a shame, 'cos it's good fun if you've got your head around it *not* being an a action game...

Porting would be throwing away good money, IMO. It's based on the assumption that it'll sell well just because it's on the PS2, which is a faulty supposition at best (see BG&E and PoP - until recently anyway).

I disagree I think VJ's gameplay can definetly be appreciated outside of gaming forums. The difficulty may need to be tweaked but all my non gamer gamers have really enjoyed VJ.

I don;t think Capcom see this game as a great success especially in Japan, so I don't know If they would warrent a conversion to PS2. I do think the game could do well on PS2 though and would definetly up the chances for a sequel.

I'd like to think so (in a perfect world, it would've sold well on the GC), but a difficult 2D cel shaded game selling well to the mainstream!? Come on.

Fat_Bob: How many of your non-gamer gamers would have bought VJ if you hadn't introduced them to it? I mean, I know plenty of people who've played my copy and loved it, but they wouldn't have given it a second glance before that.

Honestly, if you didn't know of the game, would you buy a game with a Pink box?
