I tend to to agree, infact I'd go so far as to say Mario Kart DD was easily Nintendo's biggest disappointment on the Gamecube. Some of the tracks were unbelieveably bland, unbelievably boring, the vehicles looked crap and handled like boats, the new weapons instead of adding anything actually detracted from the experience, and ultimately the game lacked the soul of Mario Kart.

yep just totally unforgetable, at the time i was a bit of a MD fan but Mariokart showed me the light. The battle mode just rocked.
Original mario kart is by far the best in the series the rest just aren't in the same league. Although i have high hopes for mario kart arcade, and just as Mu5 said mario kart DS is looking good, just can't wait for those two games.Last edited by muse hunter; 09-03-2005, 18:16.

I've said it before but I'll say it again anyway. IMO the battle mode in the N64 version is much, much better than the battle mode in the SNES version, although I preferred the racing in the SNES version to the racing in the N64 version. Thus far Mario Kart 64 has been my favourite in the series.

How many of you that feel dissapointed with Double Dash have played multiplayer on it for any great length of time?,I agree that as a single player game the SNES version is by far the best of the series but it doesn't come close to the others when it comes to multiplayer.
For me the multiplayer aspect of both the N64 & GC Mariokart has been the main meat of the game with the single player mode acting only to unlock all tracks & vehicles etc & I've yet to play a more enjoyable multiplayer game than MK on the N64 & GC.

Nintendo have made a few mistakes this generation no online, GBA connectivity was a complete waste of time and created the FF:CC which is not what most gamers expected or wanted, they keep on creating kirby why?, some games have been clearly rushed 1080 and custom robo for example and they clearly haven't been aggressive enough why didn't they pay to keep exclusives Resi 4, TOS and VJ is just crazy letting them slip away. Other than that they still produce brilliant original titles.
One thing I would like them to do at E3 though is say that they've bought Skip LTD & Treasure because they're in serious need of replacing SK, Rare and Leftfield. These are the only developers other than Camelot that fit the bill of working close with Nintendo and produce original titles that wouldn't look like black sheep in the line ups.

i got starfox assault today, and i really enjoy it, no matter how much people cuss it down. it's not as good as lylat wars, but it's close, im impressed
Slowly the gamecube is turning into my most played recently, resi 4, jungle beat, mario tennis and this.
Tomorrow will be UK DS games, polarium and zoo keeper.. Nintendo aren't as lazy anymore

Mario Kart DD is mint in multiplayer but naff all to do in single player other than unlock everything in 1 easy sitting, the N64 ver was good back when it was the newest ver but the game itself has imo aged badly. The SNES ver however will never age
For me if there was no GameCube, I wudn't really be gaming anymore.

I was thinking about this thread which I created nearly 6 years ago and wondered how well it stands up today. Are Nintendo lazy? I'd say no, not totally. They're very active in the casual games market with Brian Age, Nintendogs and the Wii <name> series selling absolutely millions of copies worldword, but they're still very much not for the hardcore.
E3 this year had every Nintendork scratching their beards with the question? Where are the "hardcore" games, which Nintendo replied with a few at TGS 08.
Even after this announcement the Nintendo Wii at my home will not be turned on. This sways the pendulum in the other direction of Nintendo being "lazy" but after this is said and done Nintendo are doing what they do very well. They have broadened their user base far beyond anyone has been able to and this is thanks to the revolution called the Wii.
Hats off to them, we may not be their focus anymore and I won't be buying a single Wii game this side of 2009 but this doesn't stop me respecting them and their aggressive marketing campaign. I'm still seeing Mario and Sonic at the Olympics adverts.
I must dash, the laptop battery is running low and there's more beer to be drunk. Good night
