Tell us about the last game you completed

THESE POSTS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS! WHICH WILL HOPEFULLY BE CLEARLY MARKED

Tell us about it and what you thought of the ending.

This post is about PoP so do not read if you dont want it to be

Ive just completed PoP and wow what a great game. The story is minimal but the gameplay is what counts. The way it starts off and the way you make your way through the layers of the dungeon. Bit strange how its all laid out though but as its a game i'll forgive it.

The ending section of the game was certainly nerve racking, taking away the dagger of time meaning everything had to be perfect. At least the fights were sped us as i was getting very tired and bored of them.

The way Fara betrays you, or does she? We dont really know. It was sad and gut wrenching the way she died, you could really feel the pain the prince was going through, not only from her loss but from the pain of the dagger.

But the way it rewound the whole game in the blink of an eye, undoing all of the time that had happened. Id have been happy for it to end there, the final boss battle was nothing spectacular but ended the story beautifully with the final cutscene. And for those of us that have seen it, dont we all wish we could rewind moments like that? It was a nice final touch to all the humour which while not laugh out loud funny was very witty all through out. [b]

Just finished Pitfall the lost expedition and jolly good it was too.

I took a chance on this one as reviews were middling at best but it turned out to be well worth the money. It even had a decent story.

Initially the control feels a bit light, but after a short while it clicks into place. Level design also seems poor to start but soon picks up*.
Not unlike most platformers your character starts out with a minimal inventory of weapons / assists etc.
*Once items are picked up they can be used to reveal new levels or assist you in finding those hard to reach treasures as per MP and Zelda.

New entries into the platform template include the pickaxes to climb ice-covered walls and the raft for crossing electric eel infested water. A special mention should go to the TNT although you dont get that until very late in the game.

There's even a well constructed stealth level and a fun filled spot of toboganing.

The final boss fight is perhaps a bit too easy, but is in keeping with the difficulty level of the game in general.

With a host of treasures to find (I only got 62 out of 128) and extra custumes and characters to unlock I will be going round this one again on my original save game.

Overall a solid platformer well woth its' medium price.

Double Dragon Advance, solid 2d beat'em up scroller! Loads of enemies on screen [6-to-8] w/o a hint of framerate loss or flicker (Master system days) haha - plus its better than it's arcade parent!

Zone of Enders: The second runner.

Very average for most of the game unfortunately, despite what many have told me in the past. Reminds me a lot of Otogi, especially because of the poor camera and rather basic combat (which does improve as you go on). The end sections are an improvement, especially taking out the large ships and the protecting 40 LEVs mission which were both good fun. Difficulty level for the game was about right, but over all I'd say this is a flawed game with little to recommend over the competition.

And god damn, I wish Hideo Kojima wasn't so obsessed with 'stylish' slowdown. It looks ugly when used every three seconds.

Well, I finally rinsed Siren 100% last night. The save files says I spent 38 hours on the game, but it's closer to 50, seeing as I didn't always save.

Not much I can add to what's already been said by myself and others on this board, except to say 'play it!'

I beat the blue route on Eternal Darkness.

            SPOILERS PERHAPS...

I felt that the storyline was strong throughout but a let down in the end. And the cut scenes during the final battle were very misjointed. The final part of the game you actually control is baffling and pointless. Perhaps the reason I felt let down was that I was expecting some major twist or bombshell but it never really happened. And unless I missed something, I don't get the importance of these particular people all being involved in the events.

Adam mentioned that completing all 3 routes would give a more fulfilled ending. But somehow I can't see it clearing too much up.

Other than that though I LOVED the Graphical Look, the sound, the atmosphere, the effort that went into making the time periods authentic and the actual story telling with the voice work being exceptional. The gameplay was pretty good too once you got the hang of the combat system. I also enjoyed the magic system.

All in all a great game (9 out of 10) that I felt was perhaps not complimented with a good enough story - Yet the story is the exact reason that so many people love the game! Maybe its just me but great characters, settings and voice work doesn't necessarily equal a great story. They needed the strong ending to wrap it all up cleanly and make me think WOW.

Oh and a final mention goes to the sanity effects. I thought they were great. Even near the game a few of them caught me out despite the fact I was always expecting them.

Advance wars. I wasent late to the party but brought it quite soon after it came out and left it on my shelf for god knows how long. Last week when I was searching for some games to part exchange for Deus Ex 2 I saw advance wars and picked it up to take back. In the shop I looked at it again and decided I coudent sell it.

Cue one sick day off work (Honest sir) and hours wraped up completing field trainning. Once I had completed the missions I thought the game was done but one of my best supprises Ive had in a game came along. Not only was that just the start of the missions but a level editor opened up! Ive made one kick ass level! This game really caught me unawares considering I dont like turn based combat in final fantasy and command and conqor type battles. I must get some time in barfore going out later on after work...

Also a bit sneaky here but im well into the plot of Deus Ex 2 and it's the most gripping game Ive played in a long time.

PoP for me too, and Mario and Luigi. M&L was cool, nice 'reasonable' boss. PoP was an odd one; it's got one of those bosses you're not sure if you're doing the right thing in defeating him and then he dies. wtf?! Oh well... Bit of an anticlimax that one, although it was enjoyable to play. Felt they lost the plot a bit at the end, seemed a bit 'quick', like I'd lost control (for the first time) in the game and was a passenger watching somebody else play

                  Starsky and Hutch,

Having just finished this i can help but say it was fun. Taking on the role of Bay citys finest (and possibly only) cops you take part in a series of car chases around the city, railing in pesky perks and bringing them to justice.
Thats the game really, a total of 18 levels of car chases. Its actually a lot of fun, keeping in the tradition of the TV show you can access special events that encompass exploding barrels and flying jumps. Its only real problem is that it puts all its eggs in one basket and hatches them after the first six levels leaving very little else to discover. Its still entertaining, but you will finish hoping for more of it with more surprises.
