Tracks like bigsurf grove are the best imo as you can chain burnouts together for the whole race and get into the 30's, the only thing that let the track design down in bo2 was the fact that some tracks were just too narrow to drift down with traffic and also the tracks where traffic randomly cuts infront of you at junctions meaning unavoidable crashes ft:

Burnout 2 is the best driving game in recent years, the first game was like a beta really, nice ideas, rubbish implementation

Drive, crash replay, replay, replay, replay, replay, replay, replay, drive, crash replay, replay, replay, replay, replay, replay, replay.......switch off and never play again.

Burnout 2 is fun, simple to grasp, highly refined and polished and has a repeat playability rarely seen, a perfect driving game that was praised but may seem to be a bit mainstream...perhaps it is too enjoyable when compared to more "hardcore" such as Initial d which had the prerequisite japanese influence and are infact rubbish (take this at face value if you wish)

Shame they removed the ability to save crash replays. Combined with the Crash mode high scores table, that would have given extra scope for challenging each other to perfect your tactics, and watching the odd glitchy Crash attempt (making a bus flip about eight times? It's happened) could have been amusing.

Although I loved the technical prowess of Burnout 2 and it looked amazing, it just was not as much fun as the original. There was hardly any edge of seat moments as you flew through junctions and the roads were so much emptier that on occasions it was just like racing a normal road racing game.

I played Burnout 2 for the first time two weeks ago, and I was put off by the change in gameplay style - I hate the wide open tracks, the way it's so easy to get burnouts and imo the track design is rubbish compared to the best tracks in Burnout 1. You can drive really badly in Burnout 2 and still you get rewarded with burnouts.

I thought the narrow tracks in Burnout totally enhanced the gameplay, making it very tense and you had to get really close to get boosts. Admittedly, I only really liked the first three tracks in Burnout 1 but they were perfect for multiplayer.

Burnout 2 is different, more of an arcade type game even, which for me makes it different in a bad way.

I wish they had included survival mode in burnout 2, it was so good on burnout1 as it made the racing a lot more tense esp on that Rushhour track.

If they have a graphically enhanced version of the European City tracks and 60Hz in two-player, this game is as good as bought.

I loved BO1, BO2 was good but as many have said, the roads are too wide, crash penalties are stupidly low (the point of the replays in BO1 was punishment) and, yes, burnouts are too easy thus loosing some of the thrill of hitting that right-shoulder button.

Lets hope BO3 has something for the easy wanters and people who want more of BO1.

It's a shame that developers can't include "fun" modes into certain games. I played PGR2 and constantly wished the crashes were as good as BO2. McRae 4? Why not include some bonus levels that are pure fantasy? Give me the realism and then chuck it into Speed Devils type circuits. I want Wacky Races without the cartoons sometimes. Damn I've gone all misty eyed and want to play Blast Corps now

I am a pro BO1 person. For both difficulty and design. BO2 is just too darn simple, I think it suits the marketplace at the moment, hence its greater success. But talk about dumbing down and diluting a concept, its almost as if Americans were in control of the sequel.

BO2 was intentionally designed with an American flavour. The developers looked for a new inspiration and they went with a U.S flavor.

The game is defintely more ' Arcade ' and this was probably a deliberate decision to appeal more to the mass-market. I agree they should of catered more for BO1 veterans and included a choice of more difficult experiences. At the end of the day though both games have their highs and lows, lets hope BO3 can be more of a well rounded experience, then everyone will be smiling.
