The Silent Hill games are the both excellent. Personally, I preferred the visceral approach of the first but the second had better characters and a more coherent, believeable story. I also got the best ending ('Leave') on my first go. My only gripe is that I really cannot be bothered to play through the game another 5 times to get the other endings...
Project Zero (Fatal Frame) is OK, but I don't find it scary at all. SH's scares are freaky and psychological, but PZ's are very predictable. The poor voice acting doesn't help either (but the ghosts on the audio tapes is a nice touch).
