Dynasty Warriors 3 has repetitive combat and is still a fun game. Sometimes what you want is something mindless.

Indeed, there is nothing potentially wrong with mindless fun in games. However when you compare and adjudicate games, "mindless fun" often means the longevity of the title can be undermined. Armada is a pretty and fun game, but shortlived. Armored Core 3 Silent Line? The don of depth and cerebral gameplay. Now that's something that will stand the test of time.
