I doubt it's a mistake. It looks like auction-spoiling to me.

The seller seems to be selling information on a pyramid scam, but taking an even closer look, he seems to list the actual info in his auction Also, the seller's previous history has him "buying" positive feedback and bidding on cheap crap to up his feedback rating. Very dodgy.

It was probably bid on by an ebay vigilante - basically, they bid stupidly high amounts to keep Joe Average from bidding on a scam, like this one. They won't pay up, just like "information on PS2 wholesale" isn't any good.

If memory serves, doesn't Ebay charge their percentage of the winnings to the seller even if it ends up in a mess? I'm not up on the selling side and charges, but there was something to that effect in the thread where those students tried to sell their university.

No mid, you get charged the listing fee whether it sells or not.

The listing fee is a fixed amount plus a % of the starting price (or BIN price) not the ending price.
