    How much??? Wow thats a bargain to WTF in Tokyo

    Just a few things I noticed whilst in Tokyo.

    Radiant Silvergun is everywhere, most shops have at least on copy and one shop has around 30 copies, he said that most people who buy it are gaijin... Oh the price ranges from 12800 Yen to 15800 Yen. (about 66 to 82 pounds).

    Saturns can be picked up for as little as 1980Yen (just over 10 quid), with boxed Grey and White saturns for about 4480Yen (about 23 quid). Boxed Playstations are around 1980Yen....

    Famicoms are starting to get expensive at around 5800Yen (about 30 quid) for even sunbleached models, even saw unboxed Famicom Pluses for 11800yen (about 61 quid) to around 40000Yen (about 200 quid)for a sqaure button original in a nice complete box.

    Loose white PC Engines can be picked up for around 3500 Yen (about 18 quid) with loose Duos going for around 9800 (about 50 quid). Boxed models are around 14800 Yen (about 76 quid).

    Apart from a gold Super Bomberman 2 cartridge and copies of Nage Libre, nothing seems to be going for more then 10,000 Yen on the SFC.

    'Rare' Megadrive games (Alien Soldier, Vampire Killer, Snow Bros, Pengo, etc) can be picked up quite easily if you have the money. Rare Megadrive games like WWF Raw, Maximum Carnage and Virtual Bart to name a few are very hard to find, did see a copy of WWF Raw in it's European box for a 6 digit sum.... ^_^;

    PC Engine (with Famicom and Megadrive close behind, ignoring Neo Geo as expensive games are a given...) seems to be the collectors console of choice with more games over 20,000 Yen then any other console. ^_^;

    Neo Geo games are as cheap as 480 Yen... (Thats about 2 pounds and 50 pee). Although only saw three games at that price...

    Full report when I get back....

    Can you tell me about AES (the console) availability ? If I were to wonder around the center of Tokyo for a couple of hours would I find any/many in the shops I'd visit ? What are the prices these days ? Sorry for all the questions but you're there, doing similar 'research' so I thought....

        Cheers MD.

        So I won't have any trouble finding one when I go between now and two years or so ? It's my 'nightmare' that availability will drop significantly when I finally manage to get the money together.

            Dude, with my Japanese Uni course only starting in September, and my year in a Tokyo Uni coming around in 2006 only, must you taunt me with this kind of info MD?!
            Have you soul, man?!
            Leave me be!

            Hold it... how much were famicoms did you say?
            Have you seen the new dinky little NeoFami in Japan? Cute as a tiny button, but how much does it go for there?
            What about Famicom games, boxed and complete... or are they so cheap that I wont want to know?

                Its amazing how much the traders based in .jp bump up there prices to there unfamilar to the territory western fans... I wonder how easy winning eleven 6: fe for the gamecube is once your out there, i'm guessing its not as rare as some would like to make out.

                  I didn't see one copy, and it took me 4 days and countless being told 'you wont get one','all sold out ' etc to finally find my Q, after hunting in probably around 30 shops and then stumbling on one on the morning of my return flight.
                  If WE6:Fe is there its probably in the hands of internet traders.

                    A brand new famicom jnr retails at about 7,900Y about 38 quid!!! and the games can be found at a range of prices 300Y > 6000Y (normally super mario kart is about the most expensive of the non rare carts)

                        I meant the old famicom, not the super famicom.

                        A NeoFami is a dinky little black famicom system, (some say clone), the size of 3 standard music cd cases piled on top of each other. Just bigger than an old PCE model I think. (?)

                        Im wondering if anyones seen it on the streets there.
                        Been in a bit of Famicom junkie mood lately

                          sorry mate, i didn't know about that the only other famicom's i have seen are the original (can get for 3000Y boxed) ,
                          the famicom jnr version(goes for about (7000Y boxed)
                          and the sharp vers (about 15,000 i think?? although its in a ugly looking piece of expensive ****!)
                          However I think the famicom is having a massive resurgence in Japan at the moment and the prices are rising all the time!?

                            The Neo Fami is about 3800 Yen or such, although the pads suck so I've not bought one... Remember tokyochojin that Famicom doesn't always mean the Super flavour. Still shocked at the 20,000 Yen that some shops want for Athena... ^_^; And other games like Super Mario Brothers being over 3500 Yen, I mean its the most common game in Japan...^_^;

                            Neos arent that easy to find, I've only seen about 3 or so but still they are 100 quid. I'm happy I found new copies of Tempo, Metal Head and Chaotix on Super 32X for a reasonable price. ^_^ Still going to get a few more Famicom games before the week is out, saw Paradious for around 980 Yen. ^_^

                              Good price.
                              Actually, the pads are quite good. Solid feel to them, nice and thin so easy to grip. The buttons have a nice click to them, and feel solid, the rapid fire buttons are also excellent. D-Pad is a little on the chunky side, but theyre quite nice. Played through KidDracula the other day, had no trouble. Get it, the design on it is fantastic, dinkiest system I own. ^_^

                              How much is the going rate for:
                              DoorDoor
                              Quinty

                              do you know?

                              Any other good tales to tell?
                              Eaten much nato?
