Initial D Hype-Fest! Game Jam Tournament with vids!!

Basically, I'm going to be hyping this little baby up to absurd levels over the coming weeks in preparation for June 28th - the day when Initial D: Special Stage graces Japanese PlayStation 2's with its presence!

I'm starting with a competition held at this years Sega Game Jam festival which pitted 16 players, each of whom had beaten the competition at regional heats to advance to the final, against one another in a knock-out tournament on Arcade Stage ver. 2.

You can check out pictures and the tournament board here:

Well done to DEW for narrowly beating 12 year old ユウスケ (boo-hiss!). That Trueno door will come in very handy, I'm sure.

Five videos of the participants in action (these are 500k/s, so I'd recommend that 56k/128k users need not apply and that 512k and 600k users have nothing d'ling in the background)

    Only 76 days to go!

Looking good. How long has this game been around in the arcades? I had heard very little about it until you mentioned it (repeatedly) on the forums. It looks like it drives plenty fast enough for my tastes though.

In Japan the game has been around since last summer with ver 2 hitting around Christmas.

The ver 1 translation hit the west at about the same time.

I have the solution for you sir!

Download ASFRecorder, a software for downloading streaming files to your hard-drive

Download that and copy and paste the links into the open URL box and they'll download in double-quick time to your hard drive where you can watch them without worrying about buffering.

Even when you've downloaded the video?

These vids do require Windows Media Player 9 Series, so if you don't have that they won't work. Maybe that's your problem.
