    1. IK+, Absolute gold and multiplayer to boot, still superbly playable today.

    2. Super Mario World, never before or since had a console game got me so sucked in! Was hooked after playing it on an import machine(every saturday for about 3 months!) at a local games shop, demanded a SNES from the rents the following Xmas.

    3. Goldeneye, cos nothing beats playing it with 3 pissed mates, nuff said.

      3) The Sentinel (C64). The first game that made me go "wow!"

      2) A tie between Super Mario Kart (SNES) and Super Mario World (SNES): I've played them more than just about any other game. I've just completed SMW again on the GBA, and it's just as good (more than I can say for Mario Kart Advance, tho).

      1) Zelda, Ocarina of Time (N64): just brilliant.

Does Ikaruga count as nostalgia? It's about two years old now.

        Easy

Zelda A Link To The Past (snes) - My all time favourite ever game, no question.

Super Mario Kart (snes)- Possibly my most played game of all time.

Strider (Megadrive) - The first level alone was worth the price of the game, rock hard and cool as ****.

          Blizzard pwns all

          1) Warcraft III - Reigns of chaos (PC) - Battle.net multiplayer mode rocks. Custom maps like DOTA, are soooo much fun.

          2) Starcraft (PC) - Greatest RTS game made ever. Period.

          3) Lost vikings (PC) - Simple concept with awesome gameplay value. Still sits in my GBA.

Super Mario Kart - playing this in multiplayer through 'til dawn became all too common and I can't think of any game I've spent more time with.

            Mario 64 - Obvious reasons.

Zelda Ocarina of time - Obvious reasons.

              In reverse order:

              3) Chrono Trigger.

From a time when Square did actually make every RPG they touched good. Chrono Trigger's no exception and is by far my favourite SNES game. The original sci-fi time travelling storyline lured me in and kept me by way of it's interesting plot twists and ability to avoid substantial amounts of the usual RPG cliche nonsense. The battle system was truly superb; double techs and triple techs were the pinnicle of design, and anyone who dismisses the music is a nutsack, quite frankly. Addictive, and one of the few RPGs I can bring myself to play time and again.

              2) Silhouette Mirage

Many people don't like this - choosing, UNWISELY, to compare it to Gunstar Heroes. Is Gunstar Heroes the better game? Probably, in terms of it's technicality and playability. But Silhouette Mirage is a new ball game in its own right, and I'm fonder of it's art style, play mechanics and REAL laugh your head off moments (such as the boss battle with the chauffer!), not to mention its versitility in giving you numerous ways to leak cash and pound the enemy. Silhouette Mirage is charming, funky and very, very playable.

              1) NiGHTS Into Dreams.

What can be said about NiGHTS that hasn't already been said? Absolutely magic from the moment the intro comes up and that mini orchestral piece breaks in to send shivers up your spine. The presentation was perfect, and displayed such innocence; even the standard polygonal models of Elliot and Claris was enough to make me smile my ass off. And then when you actually got into the game, and the blend of fantasy and ecstasy crept in... well, there's never been a moment in video gaming history like it for me. I played it for hours, and hours, and hours and then some, trying to beat my own links and scores. It was like pure crack cocaine in digital form.

I don't like to talk too much about it though; my words could never ever EVER do Naka's crown jewels justice.

I never played Nights; from all accounts I missed out on something very special.

Neither did I, until I grabbed myself a Saturn for ?20 last year. Nights and the 3D controller cost more than that, but I haven't regretted buying either.

Pikmin: take Gordon's advice - seriously, that **** is freely available! Anyone charging more than ?30 for a PAL Saturn is a dick.
