Metagaming, or the broken fourth wall

    Below article's a nice read:

Reminds me of some of my favourite metagaming monents, In Police Quest 2 in the car driving sequences (where you see the main protaganists as though you're in the backseat of the car) you can give the command: Look backseat. the game answers you back: You see an avid gamer looking over your shoulder.

And in Zelda (lttp?) wehn you obtain the first Jar the shop owner say "Hold it up so everyone can see it, it's good for business" after which Link obviously proceeds to hold it up, as he does with all treasure obtained.

Not sure I agree about the Zelda one...

The parts in Twin Snakes where Snake talks to the camera really annoyed me...

And also when Naomi asked you to put the controller on your arm to give you a massage...scary stuff.

        Yay, that article mentions Earthbound!

Except it completely spoils the ending and tells you how to defeat the last boss. Boo.

The 3 boss on the run up to the final showdown with Giga in RSG may of been a fourth wall moment, i'm not sure.

As you defeated each of the 3 boss's the diamond text would thrown up like "I gave you lives so you could make good progress, but you didn't understand" or similar, that messed my head up a little right there.

Thinking about it, the zelda thing indeed isn't a fouth wall breaker, it pokes fun at itself a little. Remebered the otehr day it does the same thing in Wind Waker when Link receives his shield from his grandma he holds it up as usual, but when the camera cuts to show his grandmother again link is still in the 'holding up item pose' and his grandma says something along the lines of 'what are you doing standing like that?'
