    Dreams, crushed under harsh booted-heels...

We've all had them, games that we'd read about for weeks or months, games that we developed hard crushes on, only later to have it all ripped to shreads when the game was canceled. It devestated us, perhaps illicited a tear or two.

For me, most recently, it was the confirmed cancellation of The Unseen. That game was one that I really couldn't wait to play. I loved all the mystery around it, with the strange website and movie of the lead character dancing. And, when I read that MS had cancelled it, I was heartbroken.

What about you? What games were cancelled that you really really wanted?

I really wanted to play Amen by Cavedog. It was looking really atmospheric and tense. They touted it as a Half Life beater.

I hope Galleon comes out because it really looks to improve on 3d platforming mechanics. It'd be nice to see Duke Nukem 4 Ever come out some time too. They need to stop chasing new engine technology. I couldn't give a crap how it looks as long as it plays well.

It's not a game but, the 64DD, I was saving up and dreaming about all the hours I would spend on it. Only come out in Japan though, right? ft:

I don't know if this fits your thread, but the way certain gamers ruined the utopian society that was Phantasy Star Online by cheating.

I can't express the anger, rage and bitter, bitter disappointment when people started to leave because a few ignorant wankers decided it was 'clever' to destroy the way the 'society' functioned. It genuinely upset me for a long, long time.

In its own way, that 'cancelled' the game I wanted, as it was a game still developing.

The most recent game I was disappointed to see not get a release was GP4 for the xbox.

Aliens: Collonial Marines. I was so looking forward to this. Finally what seemed like a decent console FPS based on the Alien films (wasnt a fan of Alien Trilogy or Alien Resurrection on the PSone), but loved Aliens vs Predator on the PC. I was absolutely gutted when it was cancelled. It looked so good as well.

The Hikaru curse. There were a few interesting games on that board that never made it to DC.

It's a pity Scud Race never made it past the tech demo stages. That game was lush looking. I think model3 to DC ports were tricky though. Fighting Vipers 2 really suffered.

Starfox (Starwing) 2 on SNES, loved the original and was gutted when the sequel was canned. AT least theres a manky beta ROM floating about the net i suppose.

It's strange that they should can such a big project. It would surely have sold very well..

                          ICO 2....
Granted, it wasn't announced or cancelled or anything... but MAN...
                          *desires*

That fantasy thing that Retro were doing that got canned. That looked class. I know all the demos were apparently impossible, but if anyone could do it... I wouldn't have put it past them.

Umm... there's the DC Castlevania, I guess, although it wasn't looking that great.
Damn, there was something I had in my mind. Ah, screw it.

I've got a feeling (or rumour ) that SEGA will release Planet Harriers and SCUD race on the PS2/Xbox/GC formats eventually. They've released KOR66 so we'll have to see, but theres not that much back in the way of 3D games for them to convert (that they haven't already done on other formats - namely the DC).

Back when the very first PowerVR graphics cards were announced, Namco showed off a demo of Rave Racer for the PC utilising the new card.

Sadly the game never got released
