    Who cares about here?

Never said it was gonna get released here - finding an Evo B cab here is like discovering life on Mars....

But in Japan it's going to be silly just like how Evo is now, good for them.

Final Tuned's really going to be the ultimate arcade VF4 fan's dream, but I don't think it'll sell that well. Evo didn't do great numbers in Japan IIRC, and that is, like, the ultimate home version.

Talking about the arcade version of Final Tuned man - no home version has been announced ennit. When I said Evo is massive in Japan I mean the arcade version, Final Tuned with the new features on the VF.net side + the reworking of characters again is going to keep the VF arcade scene strong.

Ahhhhhhh, fair enough Saur. It does surprise me though considering how much of an arcade following Evo has, that it didn't translate into big sales. It's so much better than regular VF4 IMO. I guess it's like the DDR home/arcade argument though (play it at home purely to practice for showing off).

Japan truly is an arcade country.

            Weird ennit

Like how Sega made sure no options or features in the PS2 version would detract from the VF.net system of the arcade game. Like for example you cant transfer characters or anything, the arcade scene is so important to them and it's overlooked quite a lot. VF is MASSIVE in Japan's arcades, home versions dont seem to stand a chance to that social scene.

We have a UK VF scene with suberb players, I'm confident we at least will get a Final Tuned board to play on - but it's a damn shame games like VF which still shocks me at how deep it is cannot get a good worldwide release like it deserves.

I guess it's like the DDR home/arcade argument though (play it at home purely to practice for showing off)
BLatant bruv! YOU know! I'd be practicing Pump routines in the afternoon to storm off down central in the evening for battles all like "Right.....HAVE IT!!111 you little bitches!11"

Evo's still going strong over here. No other fighters come close to it. There's gonna be a big tournament in the upcoming months before Final Tuned is released. I play this game daily in the sega arcades and the depth of this game just keeps surprising me. Im the kind of person who analyses the frame rates and combos in relation to foot stance but the stuff that these japanese players come out with is breathtaking.

                ****ing legend.

Thing is, despite me having to put up with whinging that VF4 is the most successful arcade game EVER in Japan, yet it bombed here, the people who run the show over here STILL don't think its worth localising VF.NET, no matter how much I've bloody told them to. That and AM2 don't want to help - they don't want to either a) code the added region and UK pages themselves or b) provide the necessary info for a UK dev house to do it (of which plenty would be happy to).

Funny thing is, japanese Evo GDROMs won't let you play the game unless a working card system is hooked up (VF.NET isn't needed, but no-one plays in an arcade without it) - only the western Evo discs can run without the character card system and VF.NET. How will they run japanese Final Tuned over here?

That's totally understandable; the whole card thing that's come in recently's a great attempt at restimulating the industry. Even on my dinky little, never-gonna-work-on-a-proper-machine test F-Zero card there was so much more to play for than just ?1 throwaway fun. It combines relative console longevity with arcade thrills.

Still though, I don't know how arcade profits work in Japan but you would have figured they'd have laden PS2 Evo up with VF.net extras to attract more sales... unless they make a mint off arcade sales, of course.

Alas, I can only proclaim to be below average at VF4E anyway. The last Akira master I went up against beat me 3 rounds perfect. I've vowed never to fight another human in the arcade again...! (at least, not until I can win several of those underground fights in PS2 Evo )

VF4's far too deep for Joe Public though, and tbh I prefer it that way. Sega still get the sales they need in Japan, and we get a game that they don't need to degrade in a flurry of Tekken style mechanics to please the masses.

LOL, I remember one time seeing some half-pikey half-respectable player on 5th Mix failing to strike his Walkie Talkie double routine perfectly. When he stepped off he said "I got that perfect at home. PERFECT. ****." and stormed off nearly in a flood of tears.

Thing is, there are enough players who care in London, that if an arcade opened that actually cared about its customers, provided fully functional Final Tuned / Japanese Evo cabinets with the card system and VF.NET, and some nice bloke who would sign you up to VF.NET for english moneys, there are enough players to at least support one arcade.

Fine, a country-wide release would be a bit futile, but all it would take would be one nice new arcade to do the ****ing arcade thing properly and they'd clean up.

You should read the interview with the new Troc owner man a couple of Coinslot issues ago. ****ing funny. He goes on about always getting the latest machines and caring about their repeat players. I had to stop laughing when I realised I was sitting next to one of his mates. <Avid Merrion> I think a little bit of wee came out though. </Avid Merrion>

What happened to arcades attempting to get machines that no-one else has yet? Or, God forbid, competition?

I'd start one if I wasn't some ****ing peep 18 year old student.

                    Rant over.

Sales of Sonic have doubled in the Game store I work in because the company are bundling the far superior Worms 3D in with Sonic for free.

Is it the same accross all fighting games though? I cant think of a really good selling fighting game in ages. Sadly even Soul Calibur 2 dident sell that well.
