Hm, perhaps MAMEing my Xbox would be the best solution.

You got that right - I'm always on Dodonpachi, ESP Ra De, Gigawing and Dimahoo when Psyvariar isnt holding me hostage. The Xbrick + emulator + Hori arcade stick = near heaven on Earth.

**** the mainstream - if they want to ignore games like Psyvariar (which in my opinion is the purest form of gaming fun there is) it's their problem not yours.

You're playing those games on an Xbox emulator!?

Or are you just stating your preference for shmups?

My favourite shoot em up is Psyvariar without any doubt.

Yes bruv you can play all the games I said on Final Burn on the Xbox - it's an arcade emulator. Another good one to try is DANGUN FEVERON! - it's a totally mental disco influence shoot em up, the shot patterns arent hard (just FAST in places). You can get hold of a decent stick off Allan (Tokuda) the pad is ****ing pathetic and REALLY shows it when you try and play some old skool finesse.

ESP Ra De is absolutely wicked - Ikaruga is not bad but there are loads of better shoot em ups out there. People only go on and on about Ikaruga cos they havent played much else apart from Radiant.

That's incredible. When people mention emulators, I assume it's just defunct systems. Looks like I don't have to get a PS2 if its all available on Xbox.. Is this "Final Burn" hardware or software?

You can burn stuff like Final Burn and Mame to disk and run it off the DVD drive if you like (thats how I run everything)

You can go all the way and replace the Xbrick HDD for a larger one and run everything off that if you feel.

I hate PAL so much. ft:

This isn`t a dig at anyone here in particular, but at general PAL chumps who complain and complain about late release dates. They moan and moan, but shouldn`t they know better?

Theres no reason nowadays why any gamer who is clued up, shouldn`t go with US and JPN all the way.

                For these reasons....

                - the games are almost always released in Japan and/or the US first
                - import games are cheaper if you know where to shop
                - Many great Japanese games don`t see the light of day on PAL- Saur has already mentioned Psyvarier, but theres plenty of other examples.

                    Saurian,

I know this is a bit off topic, but what is involved in getting MAME running on my Xbox? Costs? Won't stop me playing on Live will it?

Fitting an ON/OFF switch to a modchip and playing Live with the chip off should be OK. If they DO ban you from the service it's absolute childsplay to get back on anyway.

To run an emulator you either record it to DVD or a fully erased CDRW. You set up the folders in the same way you would on your PC, create an image (specific software required for this) and burn it.

Sam, as creator of this thread I'm glad you asked that question as I wish to learn more myself. So don't worry about going off-topic.

                            You so norty!

I had some heads round Friday but I was playing like a complete dickhead! I REEKED at VF, it was embarrasing. I STANK on 3rd Strike aswell, got mauled by a brer who is normally my bitch on the game. Only lost one round on Calibur tho (but that wasnt me, it was him) <----

Mr OptimusOmega on this forum is a very stylish Wolf player and it was WICKED having him round for some matches (I'll give you a decent challenge next time bruv - manz proper wasnt feeling it that time)

I'm TOTALLY EVO now man! - there is nothing that comes close!

Once you had this ps2/arcade emulator, how owuld you pick up new games for it? Just on normal CD-R's, like other "back-ups"?
