Why no demos on XBox Live?

The technology is there, surely, for us to download demos of games from XBox Live, so why hasn't Microsoft bothered implementing it?

XBL need all the selling points it can get and apart from online gaming, downloadable demos is what I'd most like to see right now. ****, I'd even consider paying extra for it, although by right, it should follow the PC model and be free. We already have downloadable content, which takes extra effort, the demos are going to be made for the console magazines anyway.
I don't want to rent games just try out games I mightn't like and I certainly don't want to buy the single format magazines.

well i'd say the size of the demos would put most people off downloading then, they would be what 200mb+ that would take a while to download and you HD would soon fill up.

IMO downloadable Demos is a bad idea, they are just to big, when BB gets faster it would become a better idea but not just now.

i'd be happy to download demos - just leave the xbox downloading for an hour or two, then come back and have a go on Ninja Gaiden etc.

i love demos, but i feel so dirty buying the official magazine and giving money to the grubbins who 'write' it.

The Official mag is a crock of **** .. I looked at the disc this month and there are two playable demos. Two!

Xbox Live really should have downloadable demos, you're right. The hard disc is bloody massive for what Joe Bloggs uses it for, they might as well fill it up with something. I'd pay a couple of quid a demo.

imagine MS would come up with a playable demo of Halo 2to download exclusively on XBL. i guess this would bring MS a good number of new XBL accountd in no time.

i wonder if MS ever came up with this idea by themselves?
