This was the rumoured Samurai game. Sounds interesting!
May 11, 2004 - Hidden away in its E3 2004 press kit were first details on a previously unannounced GameCube title called Odama. The game, which is developed by Vivarium (Seaman for Dreamcast), is still something of an enigma and depending on the overall execution could be surreal and intriguing or incredibly lame and uninteresting. We're hoping for the former.
In Odama, players fire a giant pinball known as -- conveniently enough -- the Odama around a real-time strategy-like environment set to the backdrop of ancient Japan. Giant-sized flippers help direct the ball through the environment as it crashes over enemy battalions and into troop barracks. But Odama-ists will have to be careful not to crush their own troops underneath the giant weight of the rolling pinball. Gamers will be challenged to collect prisoners of war, who will -- once captured -- become allies. Allied troops will, according to the press sheet on the game, do their best to dam rivers, liberate extra flippers and clear the way to the enemy's gate.
A rumor is going around that Odama may also feature a unique relationship with Nintendo's soon-to-be released DK Bongo controller.
Look for Odama to be released sometime in 2005.
No screens or videos are yet available for Odama, but kiosks for the title are already set up on the E3 show floor.
