E3 Summary: impressions & conclusions from the show

so it's over, again. and i must admit i feel kind of disappointed this time. can't exactly say why but i guess it has something to do with the absence of:

    - Nico (i haven't seen or heared of it, have you?)
    - Shenmue 3 (ok, the chances weren't so good, but it's kind of sad)
    - Operation Flashpoint (Xbox)
    - Battlefield 1942 (Xbox)
    - Half-Life 2 (Xbox)
    - Perfect Dark Zero (Xbox)
    - Sega's BIG announcement
    - great game surprises, let alone a new killer game a la Halo

my strong points of the show were Halo 2's multiplayer demo (although i had also hoped for some new story tidbits), EA's commitment to XBL and maybe the new Zelda trailer

I'm just wondering...where were Namco games apart from Starfox 2, Donkey Konga and Tekken 3?
    I mean where's Smash Court 2, Ace Combat 5 , Xenosaga, Tales

Well for me its been a good E3, with the PSP by far the best thing to come out of it. And a few other things taking a bit of the spotlight eg: DMC3, MGS, RE4. For me the DS is the none starter.

          A great e3 this year

          Personal highlights being:

HL2 - and info about HL, CS, TFC, Blue Shift and Opposing Force being updated with Source by the end of the summer!

Paper Mario 2 - which looks bed wettingly fantastic!

Halo 2 - obviously, looks amazing

          Resi 4 - nice \o/

Yeah, i'd say this has been the best E3 in years. It's left me more excited about videogames than i have been for ages. I was in no way prepared for the capability of each of the new handhelds - portable Metroid Prime and GT4

and when Zelda was unvieled i jumped out of my chair with shock and joy.

              Viva la Reggie-lution!

for me the only thing that i really liked(from what i saw of E3) was the Nintendo DS, i just can't wait for this to come out now, i hope the internet play works well. like xbox does.
the psp looks ok but i just can't get exited about it tbh.

for the games, well halo 2 looks . goleneye looks ****, if you have to pay to complete the whole game then thats the worst thing ever.
                thats all i can remember

Can i ask people cos maybe they saw these games but where was:

Goldensun GC, Unity GC, Hope GC, An official announcment regarding silicon knights, zoonami's still to come to life secret gc game and homeland???

Although this years E3 had some well good games that will be burning a hole in my wallet.

                  - Paper Mario
                  - Advance Wars
                  - Metroid Prime 2
                  - Legend of Zelda
                  - Virtua Fighter: Cyber Generation
                  - Viewtiful Joe 2
                  - Star Fox
                  - Resident Evil 4
                  - Halo 2
                  - Silent Hill 4
                  - Conker
                  - Half Life 2
                  - Doom 3
                  - Kameo

                  Were my highlights.

Dissapointed about the lack of Sega announcements this year, seems as though we'll never get Skies of Arcadia 2 or Shenmue III

Can't complain though mind, with the DS and the lovely new Zelda title being the biggest highlightes this year for me.

Not to leave out mentioning the PSP, RE4, DMC3, MP2: Echeos, MGS3 and Halo 2 though mind

Halo 2 and Metroid Prime 2 get the vote from me. As would the new Zelda if there was more shown than a short trailer, guess we have at least one more E3 before we get to play that one.

The DS was a bit of a let-down, graphically it looks impressive but I'm not convinced by the design or by the uses for the touchscreen they have shown so far - most games look like gimmicky bits of fun you download as shareware for a symbian phone, not fully-fledged games. And I'll be suprised if the controls in metroid hunters remain like that, having some experience of a touchscreen on my phone to control fast-paced action games I know its just not as immediate or natural as a joypad or mouse... it feels like theres an extra level of abstraction there, you're no longer controlling your avatar merely pointing and telling him where to go

The PSP conversely did impress - possibly just a sweet-looking technology fetish on my part! Especially the white one, it really looks the business. It feels dirty saying that somehow

Overall though, not enough suprises this year. I'm not really looking forward to anything now that I didn't already know about

White PSP looked nice, PSP in general doesn't interest me. Bor-ring. I have better things to spen dmy money on. Give me some excitement please.

Goldensun GC, Unity GC, Hope GC, An official announcment regarding silicon knights, zoonami's still to come to life secret gc game and homeland???
Golden Sun GC still a rumour. Unity wasn't there. Hope is unknown to be GC or still in development. Sillicon Knights supposedly working on Legacy of Kain sequel. Zoonami had a game announced of the music variety that is without publisher at present and could be out for any platform. They have a good working relationship with Nintendo but any second party status rumours or exclusive games are currently myths.

Legend of Zelda shouldn't be top Gamecube game of show as it was just in video form. My favourite looking games were Paper Mario 2 and Odama.

Metroid Prime 2, Resident Evil 4 and the revealing of Zelda were my highlights this year. Though I was really impressed with the DS also. I didn?t really care too much about it before hand, however now am desperate to get my little paws on one.

I finally got round to downloading a nice selection of game play footage of Metroid Prime 2 yesterday, as well as reading [b]IGN?s Round Table[b]. It looks and sounds absolutely stunning. Can?t really say any more then that really. My most wanted title?

Resident Evil 4 still doesn?t fail to shock, amaze and enlighten with its truly unbelievable graphical goodness. However that new trailer has increased my anticipation dramatically. Cant wait for this?

Zelda? 2005 is gonna be a long wait

Other delights were of course the DS, Paper Mario and Halo 2. Im not interested at all about the PSP sadly? meh.

Overall, a fantastic E3 all round... but Nintendo gets my thumbs up
