Whats a good single player PC RPG?

Bored of playing pointless games with no plot full of cheaters, aka
online games. Cheating has it's place, like when I got stuck on Bioforge
so reprogrammed it so I had the games most powerful gun the Tonfa
gun and made it fire 100 rounds/m instead of 1 every 5 minutes.

What are some good playable PC RPG's that are offline?

Knights of the Republic is currently one of the best single player RPG's out there.

Other than that there's NeverWinter Nights, Arx Fatalis and Morrowind.

Or, looking back a bit further, if you haven't played Fallout or Planescape:Torment, you really ought to.

A bit obvious but Baldurs Gate 2 if you've not played it is phenominal, also worth a look it System Shock 2 (not quite an RPG but more of a FPS/survival horror/rpg hybrid).

I'm quite enjoying Diablo 2 at the moment in a no brainer sort of way.

Neverwinter Nights is excellent if you play an interesting character rather than an out and out fighter as that can get dull very quickly.

Deus Ex is also a classic though it might be a bit lite on Rpg features compared with other games.

          Get morrowind, that games amazing!

The only PC RPG's I ever liked were Deus Ex (classic, don't bother with DX2, it's guff), and Diablo 2.

            Both ancient now, mind.

Arx Fatalis is a fun dungeon bash - nice detailed game world, some tough puzzles, kind of reminiscent of Stonekeep if you remember that... Squeaky-voiced goblins & stone corridors.
Gothic 2 is my favourite outdoors RPG, a real 'explore-em-up'. Again, it's a detailed hand-designed world, but takes far longer to play through. Lovely graphics.

Do you want to give us some more hints as to your favourite flavour of RPG? It might help avoid spending 20+ hours on a game you don't enjoy :-) Do you prefer action, stats, dungeons, outdoor, ... ?

If you don't want plot, and just want levelling up and killing things, I'd recommend Dungeon Siege. It's huge and ace. Baldur's Gate and their like are too difficult to get into for those who haven;t played AD&D before.

With the exception of the mighty, all-conquering KOTOR.

Planescape Torment is the best PC RPG I've ever played. Followed within a whisker by Knights of the Old Republic. So if you've not played either of them then go for it.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Ys 6, an action RPG. You'll need to be capable of operating Microsoft Windows in the Japanese locale to install and play it. Don't worry if you can't read Japanese. You should be fine if you just follow the cardinal RPG rule.

I bought this game a while bacdk and its your classic point and click that comes across as a cross between a sherlock holmes novel and eternal darkness. It's called Mystery of the druids and it has some fantastic voicework although it seemed to tough for me.

                        Thanks for replies.

After checking out the prices at my local 2nd hand store, I decided
I'd give these games a try:

                        Diablo 2 + Expansion pack
                        Pool Of Radiance

I also downloaded the demo of Dungeon Siege, really enjoyed it, graphics
aren't mind blowing like Asharons Call 2 or Lineage 2, but then I guess offline
games don't have too good graphics it seems.

I might also get a copy of Arx Fatalis, I remember a few years back being
really impressed with the demo, so no reason not to get it now, may even
look better on my new graphics card with all it's eye candy features
                        turned on.

I'm gonna keep a look out for Dungeon Siege aswell I guess, runs perfect
on my machine, can pause it whilst doing heavy PC work without
it using more than 1% of my PC's power. Add to that can get some practice
in for the follow up in August.

The Legends of Aranna expansion pack actually includes the original built in. Joy. I am much looking forward to the second one. It may even have some plot in it...

Aren't plots what adventure games have?
