    Win95 monitor refresh

Been such a long time since I've had to suffer win95 that I've forgotten how to alter monitor refresh rates. Apparently, I have a Matrox G100, for those that can remember that far back.

60hz is really starting to do my nut though. I just pinched a 17" monitor off a new p4 machine we have here and although I don't suffer 800x600 gheyvision(tm) anymore, the 60hz flicker is even more pronounced :/

I'd go have a fiddle with the registry, but it's a work PC tbh so I need be careful.

    Anyone?

Would this white paper help, its one i've had floating around my inbox for years and never actually used it.

Ah, as luck would have it, it sort of fixed itself. Seems win95 didn't, by default, detect plug and play monitors. Quite what the point of Plug and Play is, then, I've no idea. Anyway, turning it on and rebooting forced 95 to detect it and then turn on the drop down box to select refresh rate in the usual place.

I've still got the headache from using 60hz for an hour or so though :/
