    Disgaea format questions??

Ok, teodi is lending me his PS2 with quite a few games, but the one i really want to get stuck into is disgaea, can you clever folk help me with a few niggling thoughts....

Does the PAL verison have nasty black borders?

I hear the PAL verison is a blue disk, potentially problematic with loading. True?

Has the PAL version been cut in content in any way?

Which region of the game would you recommend & why?

You see, if i earn enough cash over summer, i'm going to invest in a PS2 and a copy disgaea of my own. Region of said platform will depend on the answers to the above Q's

I'm a bit weary(sp?) of PAL games since they cut the bonus vid from VJ on GC (i've a US one, so i saw it 8) but i like to have the whole package if you get me.

    Big Ta.

getting a US one is hard work - finally got my US copy this morning after ordering it a few months ago

PAL one is just a case of popping down to your favourite game's shop and picking one up (whilst stock lasts)

Ordering a US copy is a difficult as clicking the Video Games Plus logo at the top of the screen TBH.

      As for Pal questions:
Borders- Very tiny at top and bottom. Virtually unnoticeable.
Disc- Is blue and CD rom. Some older PS2's have trouble with these.
Content cut- Not sure. Not read anything to suggest it has. Other than the omission of JPN voices on the cut scenes which has upset some apparently.

Right then, here are the bits and bobs i have read about the PAL version in condensed form:

        - The PAL version does have borders, though they are only slight.
        - It is a blue disk, so it might lead to errors.
        - The PAL version has the Japanese voice option cut out.

As for recommendation, if you can get the US version, by all means do. I think there has been a restock recently, so it might not be so hard as in camps' story. But the PAL version doesn't sound terrible, but the english voices is a bit of a marmite situation - you either love it or hate it.

          Disgaea PAL verision:
          - No JPN voice acting
          - on CD media
          - It does however has minor small borders (dependent on TV) which are akin to recent Konami conversions.
          - None too sure whether anything has been censored. I'd assume it's the same as the USA version.

          As for which version?
Probably the USA one. Since it has both langiage VO's and slightly fuller screen and all that jazz. Though it's more harder to track down from retailers. Harder to buy at RRP from ebay/ ebay retailers etc.

If you're quick, videogamesplus have Disgaea back on sale for around ?32 (or thereabouts) inc shipping.

          ::EDIT::
d'oh, beaten to the buzzer. Twice.

Atlus are planning a re-issue of Disgaea in the states this summer according to RPGamer. No word on if it has any extra content, it's probably just a greatest hits style re-issue.

Atlus have already reissued it, hence the reason why a number of online retailers have suddenly got the game available. It's exactly the same as the original printing, no Greatest Hits nonsense.
