    Panasonic Q Gamecube DTS?

I was under the impression the Q has DTS support, but I can't seem to get it to work with my receiver...
    Anyone on this?

Is the DVD you're playing actually a DTS DVD?

      Yup.
Tested 2 dvd's now and selected DTS in the menu, but nothing at all

Have you put it on the amp setting to detect DTS? Sometimes you have to turn it on on the actual DVD too. Aswell as on the Q too.

        Humph.

Turn DTS on on my Q?
          How do I do that?

          EDIT:
If you meant by remote, that doesn't work either. My Q says it's in DTS mode but my receiver doesn't get the signal or something...
(and yes, my receiver supports DTS)

            Silly question...

But you are hooking it up with an optical lead to the amp right?

Yes, I don't have any trouble with Dolby Digital...

                Solved it.
For some reason there's an option to switch DTS on or off in the Q's internal menu (shift + preferences button on the remote to get there).

What's the difference between Bitstream and PCM?
I can choose between that for Dolby Digital.

the reason you can switch dts off in the menu is so you don't accidentally damage your amp or speakers. if you send a dts signal to an amp that can't decode the signal, you can get a very loud high pitch wailing noise from the amp which can cause damage.

i think you need to select bitstream for surround sound. i think pcm will downmix the 6 channels to 2 channel stereo, for those that don't have 5.1 compatible systems. i could be wrong on this though.
