    SVCD Lip Sync

Has anyone had problems with this? I use Nero6 to create an SVCD from an avi or mpeg and when I play it back on my Toshiba DVD player, the lip sync is stuffed (about .5 seconds late, although sometimes its worse or better).
Anyone had similar issues and solved them?
    Thanks

Is your Tosh the SD-220E? My one does this with all SVCD files - when the title starts the sync is out by about a second or so.

Hit the 'angle' button (yes, angle, not audio), switch to the second audio stream and then back to the first - it'll take a second or two to pick up the sound again, but now you're in sync. You need to do this at the start of each video file, so if you're adding lots of short things onto your disc, use TMPGenc or similar to join them into one big file first.

Hope it works ok. The other thing to watch out with SVCDs is not to get too carried away with the bitrate when encoding your own. The player copes fine with 2-pass vbr encoding in most cases, but if it takes the bitrate too high it can struggle. Unfortunately, I've not really figured out exactly where that limit is, so for really fancy-looking stuff its a bit trial and error. I normally do either a cbr at the default rate if I'm in a hurry, or cbr with the same rate as an average.
