DOS Games, XP, and a telly

I'd love to play all the old DOS games I've got lying around from 1994 or so, but both my PCs have XP Pro on them. I didn't (and don't) want to have to bother with partitioning and setting up a DOS mode, etc. (and in any case under a true DOS mode the games would all run far too fast), so I downloaded VDMSound, which does a great job running DOS games under XP but unfortunately is very slow on the desktop PC (950Mhz Duron); it can't even manage X-Wing.

I'd like to run my DOS games through VDMS on the gaming PC, which is an Athlon XP and thus masses faster, but it's only connected to the TV. DOS anything under XP, when run full screen, does not display on the TV -- even the command line will only run in a window. I'd play the games in a window and live with it, but they won't do that either.

So: does anyone know either how to force DOS games to play in a window, or get them to work with the TV Out? Or should I just give up?

I've an FX5200 graphics card connected via s-video, and I've already checked that it can display 320x200 and upwards on the TV in Windows.

yep i do know how to run them, just go to run, then type command, then hit okay and your in dos, then just point dos to the executable file of the game and your in business

I've done that, but when I run DOS games -- from clicking on the icon or from the command line -- they go full screen and don't work on the telly. If I then hit ALT-Enter, rather than going back to a window they minimise to the taskbar.
