high definition output on PAL xbox

I take it a PAL xbox can output 480p/720p if chipped?

Is anyone using the x2vga adapter on a chipped PAL xbox?

    lmk!

If the PAL xbox is chipped then you can set the EEPROM to either US or jap or use the enigmah videomode select disc to set the output to NTSC enabling the HD options in the dash (including 480p in dash by pressing both trigger and clicking in both sticks).

    Hope that helps

This is something I'm interested in atm too as a new Plasma TV is likely to bought pretty soon.

Destrucktor I was just hoping you could elaborate a bit more on your answer.

I will obviously get the necessary component cable but the machine I have currently is a PAL, unmodded Xbox. Obviously in its current state there is no way I am going to get a Progressive Scan signal so getting it chipped is obviously necessary. But what then?

If I get this Enigmah boot disc can I force the machine to output a PS signal even when the machine is still technically in PAL 'mode'? I.e. will my PAL games be able to boot directly and will they display in progressive scan mode or will I need to purchase US versions of the games?

      Thanks in advance ^^

Ive just done this with my pal unmodded xbox... see the thread in general gaming on big screen setups.

I wanted to output HD modes having got a HD capable projector but I didnt want to mod my machine because I want to keep it completely stock for XBL (already have a modded xbox anyway).

The solution for me was the enigmah video selector but to run it without a mod I used the mechassault gamesave hack. I injected the video selector software into the hack as it uses EvoX dashboard, then I simply linked to it and sign all .xbe's to run properly (the tool for that is in in the hack as well I think).

Voila... instant NTSC/PAL switching on the fly by just booting mechassault. Takes about 1 min to do in all... then just delete the save when finished to remove traces of it just in case.

HD modes work with PAL games fine as well, have tried a handful of them so far... as does the 480P dashboard.

The way i did it was to turn my machine into a US machine by using config magic and then get all US games for live, i'm pretty certain you can use config magic to set the region to PAL with an NTSC output.
G funk on here knows far more about it than i do as he told me how to do it.

or nonnys method works just as well.
