FFX - Cant beat the boss Evrae!!!

I cant seem to kill the boss Evrae.

Thats the boss when your on the airship. That Wyrm thing where you battle on top of the airship and you have the option to pull out or move in to the boss.

I've checked gamefaqs and ign, both guides pretty much say, 'its easy kill, kill it.'

It has 32,000 HP, i have no problem getting its HP down to 10,000. But once after that point I keep dieing. I die mostly because of it close up dash followed by its poisen breath or the other way round.

Been trying to kill this guy for the whole of last night, atleast 6-8 times now. argggghhh. anyone got some good tips?
I figured my party life is probably a bit low, 4 is around 1500hp and 2 around 2000hp.

I literally threw my control last night when i got the boss' hp down to 1000. just needed one more hit

Same way you fix everything. Level up massively. I mean massively. Then it's easy. Piss easy in fact. Always over level. Solution to everything in FFX. Plus you're about to hit a difficulty spike. Level up.

    SPOILERS
You really want to save your Aeon's overdrives. And make sure Yuna, and Rikku are not crap. Yuna gets overlooked from time to time when levelling. The temptation is to level Lulu, Wakka, Auron and Tidus since they kick ass. By the end, you don't really even need Yuna, except to summon Aeons to soak up the random encounter Behemoth's final move.

Oh, and if you really want to know? Cast hastega on your party. Get close, proceed to beat the **** out of it. By this point Auron should be at least doing 5000 damage. Possibly higher. Well he was with me. And just hit with moves such as Dark buster. I hate these sorts of things. I can never remember which bosses are immune to which moves. It is totally random and totally pointless.

Don't bother with Lulu, and don't bother using Wakka's overdrive. Just beat the crap out of it with physical attacks. Wakka, Tidus and Auron make a great team. Switch out Auron with Lulu when Evrae moves away. Though you will need Tidus to caste Haste on individual party members. Hit with long range attacks, and magic from Lulu. Or cure your party in the mean time.

Cast Hastaga on your team and slow on Evrae sometimes it misses but you can get him. Try and equip someone or your whole team if you can with armour that negates poison / petrification etc. Use Power Buster etc... Save Aeons till the end so they can soak up the damage also try calling yojimbo maybe you'll get lucky and he'll kill it instantly. The boss is tough but with the right armour and tactical playing (moving in and away at right time) you can beat him even with low levels!

He can't possibly have Yojimbo at this point! Also, Yojimbo is crap. Most Aeons are really. They can't go against multiple enemies at the same time. So Yuna is kind of crap in most random encounters then.

FFX was ****ed. It made bugger all sense. The character you're meant to level up is crap in random encounters, the bulk of where your levelling time is spent. Oh and the banish aeon moves the bosses had? Why. It just meant you'd reload the game and start again.

Well, best not turn this into a discussion on why FFX is crap, and why Dragon Warrior VIII will be the best thing ever.

Yep, I just and only just beat that boss last night, and as Crispin said the only way to do it is to level up a lot. At the start make sure you have Tidus, Rikku, and that guy in the red coat (cant remember his name, arrgh!).

Anyway make sure you get rikku or Tidus to pull back the ship, then unleash your overdrives. Once you have pulled back, swap Tidus and the guy with the red coat with Wakka and Lulu, keep getting lulu to do Thundera and Wakka to do dark attack, they should be doing around 500 or so damage each, so long as you have saved all your Al bed potions you should be ok, bear in mind only rikku can use them though, and they really are a life saver doing 1000 HP to all the team while at the same time curing all bad effects.

Remember that when you are far way from the ship it will shoot out a barrage of missles 3 times every few turns, doing around a thousand or so damage to it. When Rikku is in overdrive mix Smoke Bomb with Granade to do quite a lot of damage to it.

When it speeds up try to cast the slow down spell on it, it has only worked once for me but it is handy, also once it does speed up etc, do not bother moving back again as it is a waste of a move as it will only come up to you again. I would use Rikku, Tidus and the guy in the red coat (Auron?) once it is speeding up.

A word of warning, the puzzle you do afterwards is a bitch! I'm still stuck on it it. But after that boss the cutscene is amazing, well worth the battle.

              Hope that helps.
