joystick conversion - switching between consoles

hi. got a saturn astro (yeah i know i have another thread about this...) that's been modded for use with the xbox (via the gamester stick's pcb) and the saturn circuitry is still inside. i want to install a switch on the stick to choose between saturn mode and xbox mode - is this possible?
if it isn't, i was considering removing the gamester pcb and wiring all the buttons/movements to a basic 15-pin connector and mounting this on the casing, then i could stick the gamester pcb in a project box and use the stick like this. then i could have a bunch of project boxes for any console i wanna use.

if anyone has tried modding, say, a DC stick to work with another console whilst retaining DC functionality, that'd be cool too

I've read on here something about switching the ground wires for the consoles...

I decided it would be easier just to go with project boxes (more economical since I own a large number of arcade joysticks, so it was much cheaper to simply give each stick a 15-way plug).

And here's a pic of my cocktail cabinet (WIP) that everything's sitting on:

wow your project boxes are big!
if i do decide to go the project box route, luckily the pcb's will be tiny - the gamester xbox one is 5x6cm, the dreamcast one is about the same, and ps1 pads are small too.

as for saturn aspect, the problem is the circuitry is in place in the stick and it's a bit tricky to just remove it, it seems.

i guess i'd just have to try it to be sure
