Ultimate Muscle GC - worth a look?

I think this has been out for a while now, but I need to hear what people have to say about this game. I've seen images & video of this in action and I like the look of it-seems fun enough, but I need to know more! Does it warrant a purchase? is it fun? Who else has played it?

It's crazy but very, very fun.
I sold my Japanese version ages ago because it was impenetrable due to the language barrier. I bought the US version and love the mad story mode, the graphics are very cool when moving too.
Worth a look if you can get it cheap.
IIRC it got very favorable reviews too.

Thanks for that bowser, I've just been checking US prices, pretty cheap now so I think I'll grab a copy when I can. What got me started was some video I saw today, looks mad fun, with some solid hits and crazy grabs.

I really like it. Easy to play but the system is also very deep for a wrestling game. Everyone complained it was too hard though It wasn't, it just had a long difficulty curve

The graphics and whole art style are just perfect though. I'd honestly say it uses cel-shading as well as any other game you could mention

Thanks RLench, I did notice it has a great visual style to it and hard games are right up my ally anyway

I'm pretty interested in this too, but I can't really find any sites selling it for cheap, which is a big shame. I don't usually touch fighting games with bargepole but I love the art of this one, so I want a bit!

I had a quick look but the one I saw was charging about $15 for shipping to Yobland (I believe some people call it England) , which I can't stand because I know it doesn't cost that at all!

It actually might do you know depending on how they send it. It could be like USPS Priority or something as iv had stuff which has cost me about that in shipping.

yeah number 2 is jap only. I'm suprised that none of the reviewers on this site haven't picked it up to review it.

I have the Japanese version. I must admit I only bought it as 1) MUSCLE men were my favourite childhood toys and 2) AKI were developing it so I hoped it would be a WCW v NWO styled game.

I think the style is fantastic and the story looks mad (although me no comprende) but I found the gameplay slightly lacking. I love the "Toy" collection possibilities though, seem similar to SSBM.

Might give it a fresh blast soon.

I didn't know there was a sequel?! Why was I not informed?

I'll take a look at it and see what's been improved. I would buy it right away but I'm overloaded with games atm

No worries. I really liked this game and everyone I know who has played it enjoyed it just as much as me. If you've played N64 WWF: No Mercy then you will know how to play Ultimate Muscle within 5 minutes. It's basically the same combat system (with hard/soft grapples) The only big difference is the level 1,2,3 specials but they're explained in the manual (and are very easy to learn/use)

I didn't find it as good as the N64 WWE games at all. I thought the controls seemed a lot more basic, and many of the moves involved bouncing off of the ropes or throwing in a timed special.
