Bluetooth USB Adaptor Question

I'm not Mr Clued Up and am thinking of getting a Bluetooth USB adaptor (start at about ?15 plus vat at ebuyer) is it just a case of buy the adaptor, plus it in, download the relevant driver (say for N-Gage) from the net and away you go ?
Be nice if it is but all sounds a bit too easy

i didnt have to download any drivers for a particular hardware device - just install the drivers which came with the USB bluetooth thingie -- it then searches for any bluetooth devices in the vicinity and once they are found its easy enough .............. only problem is that finding them can be a total pain in the ass, even though you physically know its there the device just won't pick them up

my bluetooth usb thingie will pick up my t68i fine but refuses to send or recieve files from it No fun at all.

get the belkin usb bluetooth dongle, it comes with latest widcomm software, nice for connecting to recent mobile phones, works a treat with my t610

I'm having some problems with a USB dongle... I want to use my wireless Logitech PS3 keyboard on my PC. I know the dongle is working because when I detect devices it picks up a neighbour's mobile phone, but it absolutely refuses to see the keyboard.

I've turned the PS3 off completely as I figured maybe it makes bluetooth associations even on standby (in order to turn it on by controller) but the kb still can't be seen by the PC. They keyboard indicator is flashing so I'm sure it's sending out it's signal.

Any ideas?

Don't you have to set the keyboard into a sort of discovery mode? a bit like headsets?

I certainly didn't have to do anything like that when I registered it with the PS3.. the box was unfortunately completely devoid of instructions too so I assume it's supposed to be easy enough that you don't require any!

It can only be paired with one device at a time, so you have to turn on the keyboard while holding down the 'reset' button (hidden on the underside of the kb next to the batteries). Of course this button wasn't mentioned in the non-existant documentation so I never knew it was there.. whoops!

I'm going to buy a Belkin usb bluetooth adapter at lunch. To prevent it from using the microsoft bluetooth stack should I install the widcomm software first? I assume they come on a cd with these products?

I've got a belkin one, it prompts you to insert the adapter during the install. I've got into the habit of running the cd before plugging in new usb devices now as a few things at work do the same thing to make sure the driver gets installed properly.
