    Still no luck
I'm very tempted by a wireless bridge.
    They're just expensive and ****.
It'd save all this stupid hassle.

Why won't it let you bridge the wireless and wired connections?

        It did.
But then I had no more internet connection.

when you bridge, do you turn off ICS?

EDIT: just read yo've already done it...

check your rouer's security settings, and see who's allowed to connect to it and who isn't. it may have mac-based security (i.e. only specified network cards/wireless adapters are allowed based on their mac address)

btw it could be something to do with evox'ing.
try downloading bokslinks (the xbox web browser) and see if you can get on the internet that way

You have "ICS" between your PC and router?

the implication is that ICS is the XBox's way of accessing the internet.

gotta be a gateway issue or something maybe

Yes, I have the wireless adapter set to share the connection.
The router is fine. I haven't changed the settings in weeks. Was working fine before the reinstall. It's a stupid windows thing.

the router must allow a wired connection too? have you tried hooking the xbox up to it directly?

Yes, that all works fine. The problem is the router is about 2 storeys down from the Xbox so it's very inconvenient. The router is fine. The Xbox is configured fine. The PC's internet access is fine. Just ******* windows won't share the connection, even tho it says it is.

I'd be surprised if windows allowed you to share a lan connection as the internet connection. Or not surprised, this is windows we're on about.

                        I'd persist with bridging.

                        It did.
But then I had no more internet connection.
Explain. You can no longer access the net via the wireless link to the router? Can you access the router at all? Does the xbox get allocated an IP?

                          Yes, it bridged.
The Wireless link to the router went down tho.

                              They cost too much.
                              Plus it WAS working.
                              That's what's annoying.
                              It's something simple causing this.
                              It's just hiding

I just went out for a bit there.
Come back, nothing on my PC or Xbox or router has been changed.
Yet mysteriously ICS has started working. WTF!? o_O
