Firewall - It might just be paranoia but...

Since getting Broadband, I also got McAfee Internet Security Suite... with a virus checker, privacy service and firewall.

Every day I have been on Broadband I would get loads of 'attacks' (blocked inbound events) loads of them..... tons infact... per day. This, I assumed to be the norm.

Funny thing is, for the last week I've not had a single thing.... absolutely none... so am I being paranoid, or should I be worried that my Firewall is not working???

Sometimes i get loads sometimes none.

It maybe your ISP has changed your IP range (BT does this sometimes) so potential hackers take time to find new ranges.

You could look at the Shields Up website click on the all service ports, this will let you know if your firewall is working.

i wouldnt worry too much m8, itll be little "wanna-be's" port scanning with stupid programmes like netbrute etc

like ginger tosser sed just do a qucik online scan, see what ports are stealthed/listening etc

symantec also do a security check if you want to get a few results

Your system has achieved a perfect "TruStealth" rating. Not a single packet ? solicited or otherwise ? was received from your system as a result of our security probing tests. Your system ignored and refused to reply to repeated Pings (ICMP Echo Requests). From the standpoint of the passing probes of any hacker, this machine does not exist on the Internet. Some questionable personal security systems expose their users by attempting to "counter-probe the prober", thus revealing themselves. But your system wisely remained silent in every way. Very nice.

Looks fine, mine failed but thats due to me having a web server on the same network.

chances are it's learning that you care not about minor attacks, and is just protecting you more or less silently.
