Upgrading the HD on an X-Box.

    Hello all.
Just wanted to know of anybodys experiences of doing this. Where is the best place to get it done and what should i be paying etc...
Also suggestions on what size etc.. I know this is purely personal but are there any drawbacks to going big?
    Many thanks
    Nick

Try www.overclockers.co.uk or any other recommended supplier in the PC section of this forum.

People say that 5400rpm drives are better than 7200rpm ones because of tempreture... But I've had a 120Gb 7200 in for about a year and I use it for sharing files via. FTP, playing DIVX and DVDs and all is fine.

You need to be careful because not all HDDs are compatible (they need to be lockable). Get yourself over to www.xbox-scene.com everything you need to know is there.

As an aside, I got the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB ATA-133 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-013-MD) ~?52 from them. Apparently Samsung spinpoint drives are queiter (and this one is rather loud) so I'd go for a Samsung SpinPoint P SP1213N 120GB ATA-133 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-008-SA) ~?54 perhaps?
