    Xbox questions

Firstly, is there a faq on the net somewhere for Xbox's?

Ok. I'd like to know first of all, if there's any difference between buying a modded US Xbox, and a modded Pal Xbox. Obviously they're different regions etc originally, but after they're modded do they perform the same?

Also, can someone confirm that whatever region, or whatever region modded Xbox I play Xbox Live on, I can play anyone with any region copy of the game?

Do people generally mod a Pal Xbox, or import a US and mod that?

Is the S-controller better than the normal one? I like the GC pad, and have seen the old Xbox pad is huge.

Apart from buying a starter kit for whatever which includes a headset and 12 month sub, how else can I pay for Xbox Live? I only have a solo card...
Also, will a starter kit (amazon's is only ?29.99) provide a proper 12 month sub to Xbox Live? As it works out quite a bit cheaper that a normal sub...so why doesn't everyone just buy a starter kit each year, and sell the headset or something, can you only ever buy one starter kit?

Also, are there any other things I should know about an Xbox, any other questions I should know the answers to..or anything you asked when you got one? It's just I've only ever had a GC with no interest in other consoles and am therefore totally clueless.

    Thanks!

All I could think of -LINK- go to Xbox Hardware FAQs

Yes, As far as I know... PAL might be easyer what with plug and all

Also, can someone confirm that whatever region, or whatever region modded Xbox I play Xbox Live on, I can play anyone with any region copy of the game?
Im not all that sure about Modded Xboxs and live, its a tricky thing. I dont think you can play Copies on Live

Do people generally mod a Pal Xbox, or import a US and mod that?
    I think most buy US

Much better... have a look in GAME, most the time they have them on the Xbox pods.

    Hope I helped a bit.

You did help a lot, thanks

So I'm still stuck on the Xbox Live thing, if someone can say for sure, "can someone confirm that whatever region, or whatever region modded Xbox I play Xbox Live on, I can play anyone with any region copy of the game?"

You mentioned not being able to play copies on Live, that's not a concern of mine. I have been told a normal Xbox can play people from any country...but I need to know if this is the case with a modded Xbox, be it originally a UK or US console.

You can play anyone in any country regardless of what game or region you play with.

Only exception to this rule is some of the ESPN sports titles which limit PAL players to play against other PAL users which is a right pain in the @ss.

Also can someone confirm that if I want to play an Xbox Live game (a US one if I have a Pal modded Xbox) I have to switch the switch off so I don't get banned, manually put the machine into NTSC however you do that, and then play the game? If so, it begs the question...why would you get a mod to play any region game if you can just choose a region from the menu? (Or is that only on a chipped Xbox)

The switch must be off to play on live (I found out the hard way).
So you will only be able to play games of the machines original region, there is no way to "choose" a region for the machine.

As said above, most online games allow players worldwide to get togther (but not so with ESPN games).

That's incorrect. An Xbox's region can be changed using Config Magic, you can then switch off your chip and play on Live.

Sorry, my mistake, didn't realise ConfigMagic was "Live" safe.
