Making a DVD

I've got 22 video files that are about 350mb each. At the min there .avi files and i'd like to make dvds of them with menus etc. I tried encoding them to mpeg2 and then used tmpgenc dvd author which made a video_ts folder and audio_ts folder (audio_ts had nothing in it). I then burned it as DVD-Video using nero, it worked on my chipped Xbox but the frame rate was a bit dodgy and the sound was massively out of sync.

The 22 files are ntsc i imagine as there recorded from US TV. Thanks a lot for any help you can give

What bitrate did you use? Needs to be a minimum of 4000, might be why you got choppy playback. Dont know about the sound synching to be honest. Did you use TMPGEnc to encode them to DVD format? Did you select the NTSC template in the wizard?

I used NeroVision Express 2 for burning a DivX file to a DVD and it worked absolutely fine for me.

I didn't encounter any lip-sync or ropey frame-rate problems either.

I had all of them as AVI's and used WinAvi to create mpeg2's with them as thats what i was recommended to do, then i used TMPGEnc to create the video_ts and audio_ts then burnt it as a DVD Video using Nero smartstart.

I use that Nero tool all the time. The encoding isn't of the highest quality but it's still pretty good.

It's dead easy to use to boot.

Think i've got it to work on my second go lol, well it just worked ok on a rewritable

Did get a dodgy error saying burn process had failed but the dvd seemed to work ok

Is that because it was a rewritable?

Looks like you was lucky, if I were you Id try different media. Ritek discs are superb imo, Ive used about 200 and had not one failure as yet or bad disc. Cheap as chips too.

Yeah i got 25 free rewritables when i got my 107, i just use them for testing stuff like this, i'm burning it onto some ritek g04's right now
