    Xenosaga PAL - when?

After FOUR YEARS I finally get a PS2.

One of the games I have been dying to try out for years is Xenosaga - but it isn't out in PAL-land.

It makes me ****ING SICK that the sequel is now out in Japan, but the first one hasn't even hit Blighty yet. Sure, I can get a US import and fund some eBay cockmonger's weed habit, but isn't this situation just BLATANTLY asking me to pirate?

How long to I have to wait before I can walk into a store and pick a copy of this up?

Maddening isn't it. I've been waiting months for this. I don't think its coming.

I still really want to play it though (and its sequel). I guess I'll have to chip my PS2 and buy the US version when I've got a bit of spare cash.

But you forget that the original never came out in the PAL regions. So therefore, why release a sequel here, when no-one fondly remembers the original?

My sentiments exactly Ill just make it worse for you by saying that Kos-Mos is THE coolest game charecter ever (next to Dante!) and that the fight sequences against the Gnosis are some of the most impressive Ive seen in a videogame. The game doesnt astound to the same degree though, although its by no means bad. Moved to Q&A btw.

I bought a chipped white PS2! Don't insult my intelligence!

Getting quite annoyed, I really really want it.

Ed, you have some ****ed up ideas.

It is clearly PAL distributors that don't want your money. Don't punish the millions of starving Japanese programmers by pirating - just import for cheaper. You know this already.

It's highly unlikely It'l ever get a domestic release.
Theres a 2nd hand copy on Ebay right now for less than 4 quid (finishes in a few hours) - and there are always plenty of new copies dirt cheap.

You have a machine that can play imports and you're not buying it cause its not out on PAL?

                  Am I missing something here?

I'm quite happy to import a new game, but faffing about importing a game thats a couple of years old and should be available down the road really gets on my tits.

I'm quite certain the game doesn't work when disk swapping with a flip top lid; isn't it also the case with some chips??

Therage has it for $20 which is very cheap.

I don't think the game will get released in PAL, because there is a lot of voice work in it, and to convert it into 3 different languages is a big task. Just import the US version. The game comes on a DVD9 disc, so if they did make it PAL, it most likely won't have enough room to include a 60hz mode. Believe me, you're better off not playing a PAL release.

I got the US version from somewhere in London (mate who bought it for me wont tell me where - I reckon he pinched it from CEX then charged me), and its a bit bling.

Although 50 minute long cut scenes piss me off.

I think it handles its cut scenes very well. You get to save before and after each one for the most part, and you can pause them. And when paused, you can choose to skip it.

They are really long tho, thats where it falls down against Xenogears in my opinion.
