Xbox FTP problem (Ip address related)

Ive got my chipped xbox hooked up to my pc via a network cable/card- which usually works fine for transferring files. usually when I switch it on it displays my IP address, but now it just seems to give me the number 0.0.0.0 and wont let me connect to the xbox. Ive tried everything to get it working but nothing seems to work, and to the best of my knowledge nothing has been changed since the last time I used it? The xbox is defo being detected as when I switch off the xbox or reset it, my pc gives me the message - network device disconnected- anybody had this problem before or has any idea how to sort it- any advice would be much appreciated.

I've not had exactly the same problem, but before i used a started using a router i used to have to go into Media Player on the XBox and then back out again before it would allow me to connect to it.

Give that a go...hope it helps

        Hmmm..

Did you update the MS dashboard in anyway? (Like go on XBox Live or selected an option in a game which causes it to update your XBox?)
Other than that, maybe the circuits on the mainboard is preventing the PC to see the XBox.

If you can, clean install a copy of the MS Dashboard from the Slayers disc and reinstall the Evo X Dashboard to see if you can see the XBox from ur PC. You will lose all your stuff on the XBox though.

Check the settings menu in evox, correct Ip and gate way, and check your pc local area connection is enabled, failing that try another cross over cable.

I can never connect via a crossover cable unless I change my ip address first (and match my ftp program) - it's much easier using a router, less pissing about all round!
