    Bittorrent Problem

Or at least i think it is, as it only seems to occur when BitTorrent is on.

Im sure its also been reported on here before, i couldnt find nothing on search though, its a bit crap it would seem

Basically, whenever i leave my computer, go out or such, i come back and find my computer has frozen with a "Delayed Write Failed" error. Now i cant seem to find much solid information about it on the net. There appears to be solutions to the Delayed Write Failed error in general, however i have read also that none of them work.

When i specifically searched for the problem and bitorrent, suprise suprise, it links to an ntsc-uk archieve :P

The problem points in general to the disk thats been wrote to. I just hope for gods sake its not the drive thats ****ed, as i cant afford another.

    Anyone any ideas/solutions?

I have no idea if this will help, but considering using ABC - Another Bittorrent Client:

I had this same issue when copying across a network, particularly with large files. Theres a number of registry edits which you can try, in my case initially I thought it to be the make of the HD I was transferring to as one make would be fine, the rest would fail, now Im not so sure thats even the case. I no longer have this issue, the only significant change Ive made is to purchase a router, Im not sure why or how this error corrected itself. I wouldnt ditch your drives yet, but if you are copying large files across a network or Hard Disks then Id suggest you set things up so you just copy locally. I take it you have the latest service packs?

DjSatansfury & Marcus... I've also experienced a similar error, in that sometimes when I'm torrenting (using BitTornado) my system completely locks up and I'm forced to reboot. It's odd, because the problem seems to randomly occur now and again rather than all the time.

Thats what mine was doing originally. But now it is coming up with a "Delayed Write Error Failed" message. I've seen the various registry tool changes, one regarding PET's, but ive not tried any as of yet.

Basically, i only get the problem when using BT. Ive been connected to a 6 machine network at the begining of the week at a LAN, and had no problems shifting a lot of data across network/drives

Dj, this is in particualr an issue with large files, for example DVD images of 4GB plus, Ive not experienced this problem with smaller files like MP3s etc. Ive not shifted that amount of data in a long while now, so will try it tonight across drives to see if it still persists for me. I remember this being an incredibly frustrating problem though which is a known issue to M$ but has no real apparent definite fix. One other change I think I made since this problem stopped, is that I switched from 2003 server to 2000.

Have you tried the regedits for switching off delayed write caching, theres numerous articles on this via google.

I dont think its specifically BT related either. Copy a large image to your HD and try to transfer it in explorer to see if it happens then.

There's still no fix from M$ just yet, but it will be implemented into Service Pack 2 (which could be out any time).

Service Pack 2 is widely available if you look hard enough. Ph34r the gay interface though.

I also have this problem with large backups onto 750MB zip disks. M$ wank

Release Candidate 2 is out, but not the final version. Curse M$ and their ghey interfaces.
