I bought a cooler master aero 7 thinking there was loads of room in my PC. Completely forgot that the PSU is in the way. So back to the drawing board. I'm looking for a silent but effective fan and it looks like its going to have to be a traditional style shallow fan on a normal heatsink. Anyone got any recomendations? It's running at 58? at the moment (will go down to 55 if I use artic silver).

Are you after a ludicrous fan with spinning LED's that look like catherine wheels, or just a bog-standard fan that simply "works"?
There's all manner of thingies @ OCUK http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...e_Fans_47.html so I suppose it's all down to how ridiculous you need it.
Are you using thermal paste by the way?

He's using Arctic Silver, which is the dogs bollocks.
I take it the Zalman flower or Thermalrights wouldn't fit either?
tomshardware.com did a big review - but a lot of it is American brands I've never heard of.
You might want to consider getting a good quality Copper heatsink and then swapping the fan for a double ball bearing one?
PS What case do you have?

Which Aero 7 are you using? The reason I ask is because the Lite and the Jet versions have much smaller hinges than the standard (original), so you might be better off with one of those - My X-Dream version was always hitting the PSU as I was trying to sit the mobo back into place
I tend to get loads of samples from coolermaster, so lemme know and i'll send you one or other if you want?

The thermalrights are wide, but I found they sit left to right on my board, unlike say the zalman flower thing which was top to bottom (if you take my meaning). The zalman wouldn't have fitted in mine either, but the monster thermalright fitted fine. Tis an SL97 iirc. Got a 92mm fan sat on top with bags of room to spare. Neither fan nor heatsink actually protruded over the edge of the mobo, though your mileage may vary here.

It's an Aero 7 lite.
The case is an ATX case (is that enough of a description?)
The right hand side swings open with the motherboard attached (so you have to disconnect all the stuff from the back). There's no problem with it protruding over the edge of the motherboard - just that when I went to close the side again, the PSU, which is fairly tall starting from the top of the case and going down to kinda 1/3rd, was stopping the side closing. bugger. Anyway, I think I need a fairly standard heatsink and standard shaped fan, but with something clever like ball bearings or blade shape, to keep it quiet.
Will something like this be quiet? It has a slow rpm.....? I have a 1.4 athlon. Will it cool it enough?

Turq, if you have one of these handy....
Oh, and I have no interest in flashing lights and ****e. Just want something that stops my cpu from blowing up without making too much of a whirring noise. My current fan looks similar to that one, but makes a hell of a noise.
