Best place to get a US/modified PAL Xbox?

I'm looking to get my hands on a US or modified PAL Xbox in time for Halo 2 and Half Life 2 and was wondering where's the best place to pick one up?

I imagine their pretty expensive to import given the weight of the Xbox and I haven't seen any on eBay in a long time.

    Any idea?

You know Halo 2 is out at pretty much the same time here than in the US. The release date is 11th Nov for Halo 2 here.

Ginza, yeah I realise the release dates for Halo 2 are pretty much identical but I want to be able to play it progressive scan mode - hence the need for a US or modified PAL machine.

I just missed out on one in the trading forum - typical.

About a month ago, I bought a brand new US Limited Edition Halo US XBox from Weinberg on this forum. Cost me about ?150 including postafe IIRC. I think he still has some left.

Yes I do have some left, and they're ?134.99 each (plus ?23 postage from the USA, my friend in the USA has around 5 of them left) if you're interested, or if anyone else is. If you wanted a normal black one they're ?99.99.

If you want a chipped one I recommend premodded-they sent mine the same day of ordering and it arrived next day, and it's great. The cheapest one there is ?175.

                Weinberg, cheers for the info.

I didn't really wanna spend that much as I only intend on playing the Halo and Half Life sequels before selling it on but I may still be interested.

What's the difference between the limited edition and standard version, and what are the chances of being stung with a customs fee?

The limited edition version comes with a clear green XBox with a 'Halo Special Edition' logo emblazed on the front. The pad is also clear green with a Halo logo instead of the standard XBox logo.

It also comes with the full game of Halo GOTY edition, which has the old demos replaced with the movies of Halo 2 shown at E3 2002, E3 2003 and GDC 2003.

Game of the Year edition. It's the same game, but with the videos instead of demos.

From what i've read (it was some time ago - so can't remember if it was a hoax or indeed true) is that the Halo GOTY edition cannot link up with a standard copy of Halo, and thus needs another GOTY copy, if you want to play link-up deathmatches.

If your not to botherd about it being second hand check out loot.com, or your local papers personal ads, they normaly have some second hand ones going with upto 10 games for around 100-150. Then you just take the games down to game or game station, and part ex them for the cash. Works out like getting an xbox dirt cheap.

Yod@ on there offers a fantastic service. You can picked up second hand Xboxes for less than ?100, he chips them for ?40, delivery to you would be just less than a tenner (ParcelForce 3 - 5 days) or ?18.50 via Special Delivery (next day). If you get him to buy the Xbox where he lives, you don't need to pay for delivery to him as he'll already have it.

Highly recommended, puts loads of apps and other stuff on there, and offers a top service. Fast too.

I think I'll get myself a dirt cheap s/h Xbox on eBay and get it modified for ?40.
