    DOOM 3 Reviewed (PC Gamer).

Highs: Extraordinary graphics and sound; incredible tension, atmosphere, and mayhem.

Lows: Some stabs at humor fall a bit flat.

Bottom Line: Just as we'd hoped, it's a non-stop ride of tension, carnage and terror. A new classic.

    Multiplayer:
1v1, DM, Team DM, and Last Man Standing. There are 5 DM maps shipping with the game.

I hope its not one of those Exclusive reviews like Republic, either PC gamer or PCZone reviewed that and gave it a stupidly high score, they even pretty much admitted the game was crap

Pc Zone only gave republic 84% which I think it deserved. But this doom review seems a bit early, since it hasn't even gone gold yet.

I guess the review was probably a bit generous but I do have high hopes and a strong feeling this game will be excellent.

Lots of people have lost enthusiasm for Doom3. Mainly because it is said to have fairly simplistic gameplay. At the end of the day its not trying to be HalfLife2 and what it is trying to achieve should result in a really fun experience that I for one can`t wait to play.

doom3 has been submitted to and certificated by the BBFC, and since they dont ever certificate unfinished products it must be finished and sitting somewhere awaiting release.

I've got to agree with kingston on this. If ID have recaptured the sheer visceral thrill of the first two games and added a liberal sprinkling and scare the **** out of you moments and some gob-smacking visuals, then I'm gonna be a happy puppy. If I want the (allegedly) ultimate in first person shooters that take the genre in new and exciting generations, I'll stick with Half-Life 2 and Halo 2. However, if I want a ridiculously high death count and basic all out blasting, then it's got to be Doom III

Might be a bit slow, but anyone know if the chainsaw's in there?

Also, I know they won't, but wouldn't it be good if they put the doom guys face at the bottom of the screen again. His face when you offload your shotgun on a massive group of zombies was priceless!

So long as that 94% is genuine and not the result of some exclusive backhander - well bugger me! I never thought they could meet all the new demands of a modern single player fps. I'm now seriously tempted to sell the laptop for one of those cool shuttle pcs and slam an outrageously expensive video card in.

Yep. Its on one of this years E3 videos ( being handled by a zombie ) and its been in a few articles as being usable.

I've yet to see any pics / details of it in action. I'm guessing it's being kept back as a surprise and will hopefully be a gorefest when you get your hands on it

PC Gamer has been pretty damn good about reviewing games guys, and the game went Gold today as well.

Here is the cover of the issue that reviewed it...

Any benchtests of the final build yet?

Quite concerned as to just how much iD have gone with Nvidia since their 'issue' with ATI.
