Xbox - to chip or not to chip?

Here's my situation: I have a fair few consoles at home, couple SNESs, N64s, DC, GC and 1 Crystal xbox.

The Xbox is used for GTA only as nothing else really appeals, apart from perhaps the ability to run MAME on it as I don't have a PC at home (too expensive and too much like hard work to get everything working all the time).

Having the Xbox solely for one game does seem a bit of a waste, but I don't want the hassle of faffing around in the Xbox and FTP and all that guff.

I don't mind paying for a chip and installation and I don't mind paying for a hard disk - is it worth modding it and is there a one-stop solution for lazy gits like me?

    Hmm...

You only have one game at the moment. Are you planning to buy anymore - more importantly, import titles?

You want to run emus, but don't have a PC and you are not willing to FTP?

Doesn't sound like there's much point of getting it chipped if you aren't going to buy any games or want to FTP stuff over.

I think it is definitely worth getting the Xbox chipped, as you can negate the need for FTP by loading stuff onto the HD via disk (obviously) the emus are pretty good quality on the xbox.
what have you got to loose, jimbob

Definitely worth it with all the emus, apps and ability to play imports. Also ripping games to the HD - quicker loading times and less damage to the dvd drive. But if you want alot of emulators, ripping games, music etc you will need a larger HD.

There are a few sources on the forum for getting it done so look around.
