I remember using DVD Region X on an old US PS2 to try to play PAL movies and getting a message that the hardware was incompatible or something.
This was explained to me that as PAL DVD's have more lines the NTSC hardware physically cannot cope with it. PAL machines can play NTSC signals no problem as showing fewer lines is not an issue. TV willing of course.
What I want to know is can If I get a Japanese PS2 fitted with a Messiah chip will I be able to play PAL games and DVD's or just US ? If not is there any way to get NTSC PS2's to play PAL games and movies? I know that later models of the Panasonic Q can output a PAL signal.
