    Suitable Switches for MD/Saturn modding

I have a spare PAL Saturn, MD1 and MD2 that I want to sell. Would they be worth a fair bit more if I modded them?

At any rate, could anyone recommend me some switches from Maplin?

I notice most peeps seem to use the toggle type, is there any advantage to using those as opposed to the slide style?

Ugh, Slide switches. Not the easiest things to fit.

      Personally I would use these

As they are easier to fit to a Megadrive and Saturn, as you need to drill a hole and then fit them in and then tighten the nut...

      Plus they are more tactile.

Use a DTDP switch and you can then replace the Megadrive LED with a nice tri colour LED like this one

And then you can have colour codes for all the valid Megadrive options. Red for Japan, Green for American, Yellow for Europe and off for 50Hz Jap...

        Ugly.
I personally use black rocker switches.
Easy to fit and it looks much better

slide switches will be prettier though. You might find a vent to fit them in without needing to drill holes.

also they are black, like the mega drive itself...

If your feeling really skillful then you can make a switchless mod with a few resisters, two triacs, two transistors and two diodes... then you can use the Megadrive joypad to switch between 50/60Hz and Jap/Eng...

Even though the Toggle switches can look ugly placed round the back they aren't too much in view, plus they are the quickest to fit out of all of them. I could bang out a MD1 mod in less then 10 minutes...
