My XP3000 with a Thermaltake Volcano 12 and artic silver paste runs significantly hotter (52 under load) than my P4 2.8GHz with stock HSF (39 under load).

Both have free air flow from front intakes and rear exhausts.

        I typed in 'pentium 4 80 degrees'

Then I thought, hmm lets be fair and typed 'Opteron 80 degree's'

And the smug look was washed away for a moment before realising the
70-100 degree's of the Opterons reported was in Farenheit, whilst the
'consistent' 80 degree's idle of P4E's was actually very really Centrigrade
( 176?Farenheit - bloody hot as hell, compared to Opterons mild 20?Centigrade.)

Did I mention the Opterons alot quicker AND more reliable also.

Sorry dude, I dont check this forum all that often anymore, all the debates seem to centre around a few people maligning AMD with their poor mis conceptions, which may have been valid 10 years ago

I think they are ok for every day use but they are the worse hard drive speed you can get and I can't live with slow loading times. I only really notice them on PC world computers.

I suffered for years at 5400rpm, I used to think loading times of
2 minutes were normal, but the main thing was Wolfenstein, I'd
looked forward to it for years, then I found the loading times
were so long, that by the time it had loaded me into a map
it was time for the map to change, so I never actually got to
play it much, apart from the odd occasion, I got a few seconds
of running about just before the map timer ended.

That hard drive is 5400 RPM, and i bet has a 2mb cache

Compare that to the one i looked at, same, WD, with its 8mb of cache and 7200 RPM
